TWELVEOHONE Posted November 24, 2004 #4 Share Posted November 24, 2004 >> Stateroom attendant: $3.50 USD a day per guest << >> Suite attendant: $5.75 USD a day per guest << These are only recommended quide lines. No rules taht you must give $5.75 or any other amount. If teh cabin stewrd or stewardest is really good and I usually give more but if not up to par I will give less. stillfrantic Posted November 24, 2004 #6 Share Posted November 24, 2004 Why would the suite attendant get more? If we had a concierge lounge, I'd see tipping them, but not sure why when they are doing the exact same thing the cabins stewards do. Or do they do something different? setsail Posted November 24, 2004 #8 Share Posted November 24, 2004 We always give that much as a rule anyway.Bad news would be that we have to make our own beds, vacumn, and cook & wash our dishes. Or, maybe there are those out there that would welcome those chores.
Hypo Posted November 24, 2004 #9 Share Posted November 24, 2004 As I understand it, the attendants that are assigned to the suites actually have fewer cabins than the attendants that are assigned to a bunch of cabins down on Deck 2. It DOES take longer to clean a suite, than an inside cabin. Also, there may be stemware to replace, etc. The steward that cleans the Royal Suite, and the Royal Family Suites, definitely have more areas to clean than others. JMHO. However, the guidelines are that, let your conscience be your guide. Mark
stillfrantic Posted November 25, 2004 #10 Share Posted November 25, 2004 That's true....our RFS will be larger than if we were single cabin. Hadn't thought about them being assigned less rooms.
over the edge Posted November 25, 2004 #11 Share Posted November 25, 2004 I know this sounds silly after all the talk about tipping, but I just want to be clear. If there are 4 in a room, its the suggested price multipled by 4 people and then multiplied by 7 days. Example: Room stewart= $3.50X4=14.00 and $14.00X7= $98 Would this be the proper procedure? crdoms Posted November 25, 2004 #12 Share Posted November 25, 2004 Ove the Edge, Yes, you've done the math correctly. That would be the correct amount. crd

karen_g Posted November 25, 2004 #14 Share Posted November 25, 2004 If you're in a Junior Suite, is your attendant a Suite Attendant or a Stateroom Attendant? Which rate do you tip at? Just wondering since I'll be in a Junior Suite for the very first time in January. Karen

Brad1185 Posted November 25, 2004 #16 Share Posted November 25, 2004 The current recommended tips are $4 pppd for room steward and $4 pppd for dining waiter, $2.5 for asst waiter and $1 for head waiter. These are based on latest RCI brochures.
Merion_Mom Posted November 25, 2004 #17 Share Posted November 25, 2004 Brad, we just received our documents for our upcoming New Year's cruise on the Jewel, and the old amounts are still printed there. ($3.50.....) Carol
ssantow Posted November 26, 2004 #18 Share Posted November 26, 2004 Karen, My guess is that since a JS is not considerd a suite (ie no concierge lounge, or many other services bigger suites get) so the guidelines would not apply. I am sure you do not want to hear my opinion on tipping and besides my flame proof suit is at the dry cleaners. Stan
FinelyCruising Posted November 26, 2004 #19 Share Posted November 26, 2004 Karen I agree the JS is not in the same category as suite. There are no services that are provided that are above and beyond that of a stateroom. BUT, you are going to love the extra room, larger bathroom, balony and closet space! brady19 Posted December 3, 2004 #20 Share Posted December 3, 2004 Remember these are just guidelines. I guess its good that RCI still hasn't implimented the mandatory $10 per day pp like NCL & the other lines. The guidelines for a restaurant are 15% of the total bill, but you should still give a tip based on quality of service. A tip is earned, it is not guaranteed.
