gullgeorge Posted November 29, 2004 #1 Share Posted November 29, 2004 Day 2 – At Sea This is the second of a daily review of the 11/27 sailing of the Zaanadam, eastern Caribbean cruise. The daily review will be short covering the major events. Cabin We are in 1859 on the Main deck. Room is quite and if you keep the drapes closed in the afternoon it is just barely cool. There is plenty of closet space with shelves that can fold up to provide more hanging or shelf space. Also there are plenty of wooden hangers. The bathroom has a full size hair dryer and a tub/shower combination. There is a smaller hairdryer in the desk drawer, lighted make-up mirror, ice bucket and small basket of fruit. Cabin was not cleaned until 2:30pm today so we are either his last one or they have more cabins to clean then before. Welcome Aboard Function This is held before dinner (formal night) and is the typical wait in line for a picture with the captain. On this ship everybody gets to meet the captain since there is only one line. Also they get the chance to take your picture two more times and then also at dinner. The staff shows to a seating place and then they come around with champagne, OJ and water. Depending on where you are seating to if you get food or refills. They stop serving food about 10 minutes after we arrived (we were early) and never came back with more. Other stuff They are asking for cabin numbers if you have breakfast or lunch in the dinning room. I wonder what type of survey they are doing, will try to find out. They only announcements are the bridge announcement around noon and the call to bingo.

gullgeorge Posted November 30, 2004 Author #5 Share Posted November 30, 2004 We are at the 8:00pm (the early-late) seating. You can tell the staff has more tables but are doing a good job. ISince there are now many empty seats at tables, people that want the early seating are eating at the Lido. The Lido is now very crowed for dinner. elmorejj Posted November 30, 2004 #6 Share Posted November 30, 2004 We also found that on our last cruise on the Zaandam. A lot of pax couldn`t get early seating and went to the lido instead. We met one couple who ate every day in the lido because of this. Just another reason to book early if you want your choice of dining times.....jean
Krazy Kruizers Posted November 30, 2004 #7 Share Posted November 30, 2004 Enjoying your diary. Do want to know why they are taking your cabin numbers if you eat breakfast or lunch in the dining room.
RuthC Posted November 30, 2004 #8 Share Posted November 30, 2004 That is curious, KK. I would also like to know what they're looking to find out.
