AOS in July

Recommended Posts

I just booked the July 26,09 sailing of the Adventure of the Seas. This will be a mother/daughter trip. We went on Freedom of the Seas last yr and had a lot of fun.I have read all the info about AOS here on cruise critic, but would like a recommendation for a precruise hotel that would be good for 2 ladies and easy to get a taxi to get to pier on Sunday. Also, we have cabin 8638. Anyone else ever have that one. Last cruise we had promenade cabin but looking forward to a balcony this time.

I've stayed at both the Hilton Caribe and a Hampton Inn. Neither were terribly far or difficult to get to the port from via cab.

In my opinion, the Hilton was a little worn and food was VERY expensive. The up side...there's a Starbucks on the premises (a really important thing to me :)) The pool area has a fabulous view of the ocean and a swim up bar.

The Hampton, for me, was a much better choice. It too has a swim up bar...and probably THE best hamburger I have ever eaten. There is a really nice breakfast served as always with the Hampton.

If I cruise out of SJ again, I'll choose the Hampton.

We just cruised on this ship in March. I bid on Priceline for a precruise hotel for one night and got a great deal at the Intercontinental. It is a beautiful hotel with a private beach. You are also within walking distance of the other hotels so you have a choice of where you want to eat. You can catch a taxi from the hotel to the pier but I do not recall how much it cost.

Anytime we are in San Juan, we stay at the San Juan Marriott Resort and Stellaris Casino. It is one block away from a Walgreens where you can pick up last minute things prior to the cruise. There is a Starbucks across the street and restaurants on site and within a safe walking distance.

You will be sailing from the Pan Am Pier which is only a short cab ride away. Cabs are readily available right outside the door. I believe that the fare to the pier was $14.00.

When we have sailed out of San Juan we have stayed at the Sheraton Old San Juan. Right in the heart of everything. Great restaurants that you would be able to walk to. San Juan is a great city. We are going out of San Juan again this summer and staying at the Sheraton Old San Juan again. Got a great right being Starwood Members. Have a great time.:)

We stayed at the Hilton Caribe too. I thought it was nice. Maybe a little worn in the halls but overall nice. I think they were fixing parts of it while we were there.

We had breakfast included and it was really good and big and they also had a free buffet in the bar during happy hour. It was like little tacos and nacho stuff.

For lunch we ate in town.

We have stayed in Sherton Old San Juan. Very convenient to shops and restaurants. We walked everywhere. Staff is very helpful. Cruise pier not far away by taxi. This summer we are thinking of staying at the La Concha Renaissance to take advantage of the beach. Anyone ever stayed there?

Thanks for all the great info on the hotels. We would like to stay at Marriott but seems out of our budget. I read a lot about using priceline/hotwire, but not sure about using it. We have looked at Embassy Suites and Conrad Condado Plaza which are a little cheaper than the Marriott.
