ps88 Posted April 4, 2009 #1 Share Posted April 4, 2009 From your past experience, usually what thresholds do you need to achieve before RCI will extend an upgrade? Thanks!
KJBBrett Posted April 4, 2009 #2 Share Posted April 4, 2009 from what I know, it's a complete crap-shoot as to who gets one and when. I don't think anyone has figured out a pattern or set of rules that apply. Maybe it's Pin the Upgrade on the Passenger?
cb at sea Posted April 4, 2009 #3 Share Posted April 4, 2009 I've known 1st timers who have gotten upgraded. There seems to be no real "formula" that RCI follows. Guarantee bookings are sometimes "upgraded' to the next catagory cabin--but that doesn't ALWAYS happen! (and that's what the 1st timers booked--gtys) I've never gotten one, but we always book a specific cabin number.... Our tablemates on one cruise were upgraded from JS to a GS. All you can do is keep your fingers crossed, but don't hold your breath!
Markmom18 Posted April 4, 2009 #4 Share Posted April 4, 2009 Hi, My 'bad' ;)....what time can we board the ship tomorrow? I seem to recall 1:00pm, but I'm not sure. Thanks so much! Excited we are:D :-) Bobbi

rednancy1 Posted April 4, 2009 #6 Share Posted April 4, 2009 We're Diamond + with 32 RCI cruises and have never been upgraded. But then we always book the cabin we really want. We do know first timers who were upgraded. I agree, it's a crap shoot.
B-52 Posted April 4, 2009 #7 Share Posted April 4, 2009 We had booked 3 GS's in a row, then decided to book a JS. We were upgraded to a GS. Was it because they felt we were accustomed to a GS and would not mind the switch? That made it 4 GS's in a row. We sail again in less than 70 days. Have a JS booked again. Been checking website looking for bargains and noticed quite a few GS suites open. Will we be upgraded again??? We shall see.
cruisinfanatic Posted April 4, 2009 #8 Share Posted April 4, 2009 RCL will move you around if it's their best interest, but there are no free upgrades on this line.

I agree, it's a crap shoot. We have 38 cruises with RC and have never been upgraded.....I have tried....but always with no luck....our last cruise 3 D+ couples were in inside cabins and we know of several not D+ who were upgraded.....doesn't seem fair.......
