Intercontinental San Juan

I have sailed from San Juan 3 times before and going again

in January:D and this will be my first time at the Intercontinental:)

I also got a great deal on Priceline..extra fees or not;) I got

my room for a total of 107.00!

I have stayed in Old San Juan twice and out at the Wyndam

last time.

This sounds absolutely terrific...its right on the beach,

correct?

And the area restaurants definitely sound great for dinner.

I saw the Mother/Daughter question...I sail solo and am always

aware of my surroundings when I travel, keep my important

things on my person and act like I know what I am doing;)

If the restaurants on this property are really pricey, I will be

taking a cab somewhere. Or if something is walkable, I will

walk there and cab it back.

For the last poster, I just clicked on Ruth's Chris website

and it did close......it says they closed on Feb 28th.

Guess I will have to find something more ethnic to eat...:D

there is a bus stop just outside the resort entrance. the cost to ride to old san juan is .75 per person. be sure to have the correct change when you board the bus. the bus will drop you off at the terminal downtown .walk to the left when you exit the bus and and you will find the main street. we chose to take a taxi back to the resort and the cost was about $20.00. hope this helps .:)

My family and I stayed pre-cruise in late February and loved it! Great rooms (the ocean view is awesome), comfy beds, great beach, pool, restaurants, etc. Immediately when you walk in, you smell an amazing tropical scent and feel like you're on vacation. Ahhh. We walked down to Walgreens for some last minute things, it was about a 10 minute walk. There are fast food restaurants across the street as well as a Chili's a few blocks down. We walked to the ESJ/Starbuck's for coffee in the morning. The food and drinks at the hotel are great! Really no reason to leave if you don't have too. Highly recommend and will stay there again. It's 5 minutes from the airport and about 20 from the pier and OSJ. A resort atmosphere that is great to start/end a cruise with.

A few photos of the view from our room and the pool area.

The Intercontinental is an excellent choice. There are nearby restaurants and other services within easy walking distance. In addition, there is a small grocery store across the street.

I don't know if this answers all of your questions but feel free to ask for any specifics.

5 minutes tops.

I can confirm that the El San Juan has salsa certain nights of the week.

They also have a larger and nicer casino than the Intercontinental as well as a cigar lounge.

You can walk between the El San Juan, Intercontinental and The Water and Beach Club very easily although they restrict beach access.

Hotel sounds excellent. Thinking of staying in San Juan in March 2010. Just wondering how you bid on the Intercontinental - 4 star or ?, what area etc. - what are your chances of getting the Intercontinental. Is $107 the "going" rate?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Although there are no guarantees with priceline, etc. if you go to the top thread/post of this (San Juan) board you will see 'Summary of winning bids, etc.' and this is what people are getting/paying and the tricks to helping find what hotel you might end up with. I think for the Intercontinental you choose RESORT not 4 Star but I would check to get all the info as it might have changed. I found it helpful as I got 2 rooms at the Intercontinental in February for under $150 each. And, we got an ocean view too. YAY! LOVED it! Good luck.

Very good hints for getting certain properties on Priceline.

Someone posted that they wrote the hotel with their priority club number. Do you have an email address to write to? We are also priority club members and would like to provide them with the info. I searched the site for an email address but cannot locate one. If not, I'll just call but thought I would check.

Did they offer any extras with your priority club number?

We stayed at a Holiday Inn and they had priority check in, late check out (2:00PM), $10 breakfast voucher, and daily newspaper as part of the priority club.
