Inspiration 5A Becomes 4D

Hmm... just checked my Carnival reservation for the Inspiration. I had booked an Empress Deck 5A Oceanview Porthole Cabin. Now, the same cabin is listed as an Inside 4D

Carnival's reclassing their 5As as insides. My 5A in October is now a 4D, also. And it's almost $100/pp higher. :confused::rolleyes:

I noticed the same with mine, so I called my pvp said no more cat 5a, they were changed.

Same room, so I guess it does not make much a difference to me, but it does not really make sense since 4D is an interior cabin, and the 5A is a porthole. :confused:

Too much to think about, guess I will just go start packing! :D

The thing that bugs me about CCL making this change is that if you are lucky enough to get an upgrade it is going to be to an inside room and not oceanview like in the past.

So an upgrade would really be a downgrade:)

There might be a benefit to this category change for those who booked Early Saver. It's a lot easier to spot a price reduction in 4B-4Ds.

I am curious about the reasoning behind this reclassification too.

I know it was not unusual to find 5A's priced lower than cat 4's on the same deck, but 5A's were all the same price rather than priced by deck level.

 

My 5A on Fascination became a 4B and went up $20 pp.

I guess 4B is what I check now for price drops. :confused:

 

Looks like they lost their crayons before they got to Sensation - those deck plans still show 5A's.
