worth the money? Can you rent waverunners there? does anyone know approx prices for watersports? Best place out of San Juan, St. Thomas, Coco Cay or Nassau to rent waverunners?

The only answer I can give you is about Blackbeard's Cay. Don't! It's a pleasant enough place if you don't mind the sand fleas, trash in the swimming area, the long ride out and back, and several other tours using the same space.

I am so confused about this excursion. Seems to get negative & positive posts. If anyone can remember-how long of a boat ride is it to the beach?

Wow! Now I'm really upset. We've already booked this excursion. I wished I had read these posts first. We've been to Nassau some many times, I thought this might be a nice change.

It wasn't awful..but it wasn't that great either. It's just a roped off beach. We found the water to be nice...but it was very hot..not a lot of trees or shade near the beach! (we went in October) I don't remember seeing any waverunners at all. It's right next to the place where they have the stingrays penned up.

Blackbeard's Cay is awful!!!

What a disgrace!!!! It was a total waste of $$$$. There was one person trying to serve soft drinks and "real" drinks to 400 people. We decided to take the last tender back to the ship, but it didn't return until 6pm and our ship was due to set sail at 5pm!!!!!!!! Lucky for us the ship waited.

 

We were just in Nassau a couple of weeks ago. We took a taxi to Cabbage Beach and rented waverunners. The kids got their hair braided, as well as some decent snorkeling.

 

There was so much trash inthe water, the kids couldn't snorkel. My youngest daughter got a plastic fork stuck in her hair.

Now I have heard of having trinkets braided in the hair before, but a fork! LOL What a picture that would have made.

 

Did you mean the water was dirty at Blackbeard's or Cabbage Beach?

 

I believe the ferry (packed with 150 or more people X 4 ferries) took about 30-45 minutes to get out to the island. The worse part was waiting ship side for the guide to herd all 150 of us in a line all the way over to the ferry dock. A very hot and fairly long walk. Then getting everyone on the ferry and seated.

Oh, I'm sorry. The water at Blackbeard's Cay was trashy and cloudy, but at Cabbage Beach it was beautiful. The day we were there, the seas were rough, but that made for even more fun on the waverunners.

 

Yes, you can cancel the excursions. Just email RCI. We all got a refund once we returned from Blackbeard's Cay.

We paid $100 for 2 waverunners for 30 minutes. It's pretty much free roam. They was a lot of traffic, though. However, it WAS Easter Sunday.

gypsygirl-I'm sure you could call RCI and cancel. I booked on line and cancelled on line. Just go into the shore excursion area and you can follow the instructions. If you have not done a walking tour, I found that most interesting. My comments are on the Bahamas Port of Call board. And someone has responded with a walking tour map if you are interested.

Thanks to all for the information. I had booked online so I cancelled online. (At least, I think I did.LOL) We're cruising May 17th so I'm still in the time frame. Does anyone know if they'll send me a confirmation regarding the cancellation?
