Recommended Posts

Hello all. We will be needing a post night hotel in Venice for one night after our cruise. Can anyone suggest a hotel that is close to the port were we arrive and some were that is not to far way from the main part of venice for sight seeing. There will 4 of us needing a room. This is our first time in Venice thank you for all your help.

We are staying at the Hotel Abbazia. Google it and you will find their address. It is the best ranked hotel close to the port and train station on the Trip Advisor. It gets very good reviews and it looks really charming. They have been excellent to work with and the price is very good too.

Enjoy!

We stayed there last year after our Med cruise. Very nice place and wonderful people. The location is perfect for getting off the ship and just a block off the Grand Canal. You can walk or take the Vaporetto everywhere. The breakfasts were also outstanding and they have a beautiful courtyard where you can sit and have drinks (either theirs or bring your own bottle of wine). Also a very nice lounge with a small bar. We would go back in a heartbeat. Since we were on the ship overnight in Venice, we walked over the first day with one of our bags ( and a couple that belonged to friends on the cruise) and they stored them for us until check in the next day so we could carry the rest of our bags in one trip.

please note that the Hotel Abbazia is close to a church and the bells start ringing early. you may wish to check Hotel il Principe or Amadeus near the train station.

We stayed at the Ca' Doge Hotel right in Piazzale Roma. Nice hotel, but no elevator. On the other side of the Piazzale Roma is Hotel Santa Chiara (right on the Grand Canal) looked like a really nice place.

Piazzale Rome is the transportation hub of Venice. Taxi's buses and vaporettos are all there. The only problem we had was getting from Grand Princess to Piazzale Roma, as there was no shuttle or taxis at the pier. Later found out when Princess is only ship in port, there are not taxis or shuttles, so we had to pay Princess $24 pp for the 5 minute ride.

But taking the Blue Bus from Piazzale Roma to the Airport was a breeze, for 3 EUR. It was pouring down rain, and I worried about where the bus would drop us, but the departures terminal has a roof over the roadway, so we didn't even get wet.

Along with venere, this website is nice for info too

Have a great trip!

We are a family of four and booked the quad room at the Hotel Olympia. Great location near the train station, bus terminal (where you get the free shuttle to the port). Only had to manuever one bridge and that was probably 8-10 steps total. We had reservations for the Hotel Arlecchino but when we arrived they said we were next door at the Olympia (they are sister hotels and routinely switch people back and forth). Very comfortable large room. It was a great location for walking around, touring and the service was very nice. No internet in the rooms but free computers were downstairs. Be prepared to pay top dollar for a quad room during the peak season. However, it was still cheaper than paying for two rooms. Wouldn't hesitate to book again.
