How to bring on alcohol?

GC - I'm with you on that one. I just pack stuff to have available in the room. It's a big pain to have to get dressed and head back out to a bar just to have a late night drink in the room sitting on the balcony. If Carnival had a consumption fee like RCCL does, then it wouldn't be a big deal. I'd buy it on the ship and gladly pay the extra money just to have the bottle in my room. With the duty free, I'd still probably come out better.I actually would just do without so I'm not really taking any food out of anyone's mouth. We "donate" plenty plenty to the cause over the course of the cruise.

Wait a SEC! are you saying you can not buy liquer on board and take back to your cabin on Carnival? serious? Morning coffee will not go down without baileys. We have always bought on board and taken it back to cabin. Even with the fee, the price still beats what we pay at home.

Just got off the Miracle 12/12. We took 3 three liter boxes of wine with us. One merlot, one chardonay and one white zin. Two went in our checked luggage and one in our carry on. Not any problem. Also one bottle of vodka in a plastic bottle. Smirnoff has it in plastic. Had a great time and no problems. The boxed wine is great. no chance to break. But I still packed it in a plastice bag. Have fun

Well - I disagree. I take my own booze on and I tip above and beyond in most cases. Please refine from LUMPING everyone together.

As far as being an oxymoron - how does this seem like an oxymoron? CHEAP maybe - but an oxymoron - I don't see the connection - but maybe I'm just hangover from all the smuggled alcohol. :D

Well if it didnt refer to you...then ignore.

Like I said if you tip your bar waiter extra everytime you order a drink I am sure you are a minority.

The posters that I was referring to are the ones that everytime someone suggest that they may reduce or not pay tips off all together they are slamming them immediately. and explaining how the poor souls have it soooo bad. ... You scroll down a few threads and see them proudly giving suggestions on how to 'smuggle' alcohol on the ships which is clearly against the rules.

oxymoron

tiip...10.00 per day + (great)

not tip everytime i mix up a drink from my smuggled booze (sad)

I am not a big drinker so I don't carry booze on board in my luggage. However I do like an occasional pina colada while sitting out by my pool in the summer time. So I usually buy a bottle of Malibu coconut rum when we are in Cozumel.

I must be one of those old boring people that don't attract attention-cause I have always just taken it back to my cabin. After they scan it and I pick the bag up they never pay attention I just keep walking. I've done this about 5 times and never once have they stopped me and asked me to check it so they can bring it to me the last night of the cruise.

I guess age does have its privleges-no one pays attention to us middle age people.

Many people have said they have brought on alcohol. Does Carnival "allow" a limited amount of alcohol? Perhaps a couple of bottles of wine. How about beer? Any tips, suggestions and/or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Dave

....Listen closely...beer bottles in socks, liquer bottles in big baggies and both packed between soft clothing in suitcase or duffle bags..oh, and dont forget...foldable ice chest from Academy for 19 bucks..just tip the room steward 5 or 10 bucks to keep the ice fresh..worked for me on all 10 of my cruises..Have fun..12 packs of cokes are handy too..they're $2.50 apiece on ship.

What brand of wine did you take? We are going to pack a "box" of wine with us and are taking suggestions. My husband likes wine if it is not too dry. Me, I was born in France and drink all kinds!

I wonder if that is a new policy of one bottle per stateroom. I thought it used to be one bottle per person. I brought on two bottles of wine on my Liberty cruise in April and had no problem. The steward was nice enough to put them on ice for me. We opened the bottles in the dining room and the dining staff were nice enough to keep the rest of the bottle in their fridge for us for our next dinners. No corkage fee was charged either. I'll probably do the same on our next cruise but might also bring along some sodas for my kids. I won't buy them soda cards because they would drink way too much of that junk. If I bring a six-pack, i can control their intake much better.

We have been on 10+ cruises. Pack it in your check thru luggage and the the crew bring it on board. Just make sure it is padded with clothes or such. We usually take 2 - 30packs of beer and a bottle of Jack Daniels.

The beer gets sealed in big lawn bags just in case of lealage(non so far).

Hmmm, I bring my own so I can have drinks in the cabin before dinner, YES in the morning (can't drink coffee w/out baileys  and of course, nothing goes down better afterwards than a bloody mary), and at 4AM when everything has shut down. Brought 4 bottles along, and still managed to have a $620 bar tab in 5 days... I don't think anyone was robbed of their pay by me bringing anything along :D

wow! i just realized how old this post was, but still, i must say, i am impressed! i feel like an amatuer, LOL. and, i bet jess cldn't even top this. well, maybe. you must have a stomach of steel, girl!:p :D :p

i always bring on rum and beer...the rum i buy in a plastic bottle and wrap it up and put it in my checked luggage...the beer i put it in one of those coolers on wheels..the soft kind...it looks a bit like luggage...i checked it in and when i got to the room it was opened and filled with ice...yea cabin steward...i also have brought on 2 liter bottles of coke....but at times it is better just to buy a coke card and add your rum to your drink...or better yet bring vodka...the OJ is free on the ship....
