New Itineraries

I agree 100% with you. I know that some people book their cruises based on itinenary, but safety is #1 priority.

If they want to complain, they should cancel their cruise and do an AI in Mexico.

Wonder how many would do that. :D:D:eek::eek:

Just my $.02.

I guess that all depends on your opinion of the matter. Personally, i have not heard of any cases of the swine flu at either of my ports, yet a case has been reported in chicago (only a few miles from my neighborhood, mind you) so logically... porting at cozumel at this point sounds safer to me than riding the train home.

i'm not going to be MAD that my ports are cancelled, but i certainly will be disappointed. people cruise for different reason, so i believe being a little unhappy is perfectly reasonable.

Just wondering, I'm sure the answer is here somewhere but I haven't found it yet: What about the cruises from N.O. and Mobile with only one Mexican itenarary? Do we know where they are going?

I'm booked for the Fantasy for May 2nd. Right now,I'm waiting for 5 p.m. to arrive to see what changes are being made.

I did book this cruise based on ports and location of departure city. While I'm sad that my cruise is changing because of the swine flu, I can understand that Carnival don't want anyone to head to Mexico and get ill. If this was to happen, then people would be on the board asking "Why did Carnival decide to go there??".

Also,if you read the fine print of the contract, they have the right to change the ports.

I check the Caymans and Jamaica for the dates that my ship is sailing and they have no ships scheduled. I rather go there than Key West.

If they only offer Key West out of New Orleans, I will just rebook for the fall and go then.

announcements haven't been made yet for future cruises... should be coming out any minute now.

Due to cruise at end of May. Carnival had better not change to more ship days without compensation. We have not saved money for a cruise to nowhere. We could stay home and play bingo and attend exercise classes for nothing. I understand them skipping the Mexican ports but they need to substitute another port or refund money. This is not an unpredictable event like a hurricane since they have advanced notification and time to make schedule changes. They screwed us once with the fuel surcharges and I hope they don't try it again. I have 3 other cruises that can be canceled.

Carnival is really taking its time for this update for our itinerary. Let us know where we are going!!!!!!

It looks as if there is no "new" news...they have taken away the clause that said "updated info at 5:30" now it appears that the time stamp is at 5:00 and no further notices are mentioned.

I would be Pissed.....Can't wait to hear the reviews, it's going to be good...

You can be pissed but it is not Carnival's fault. All they are doing is keeping the PASSANGERS safe. Think of what would happen if they sailed to the Mexican ports.

Not necessarily in this case, they were in Brownsville and traveled HOURS to get to Houston. That much travel with a sick baby might not have been the best decision. Either way I think you would feel differently if your children had been exposed to this child along the way. We have to draw the line somewhere. The more this can be contained the better.

I hope folks will be patient during their travels and realize the cruise lines are making the best decision for everyone.

On a side note I think we were on the Ecstasy together once, my cruise history says 5/12/05 though.

I read this and he was a citizen his relatives came in to vist and infected him. Regradless of citizenship he needed a chance to live.If it was your child i think you would travel the world to cure him

Put it all into perspective...

We just finished an 8 day cruise in April, which included one stop in Mexico... 3 of the 5 in our party have come down with the flu.. We have been asked to stay indoors as much as possible while waiting for the results..

99% sure it is the run of the mill flu, but this waiting is a killer ...

2 of the 5 are kids, which means no school and no friends ...

As the old saying goes, "If I knew then what I know now" , I would

have been happy to sail around in circles for an extra day..

Keep in mind this was the week before it all became public, so nobody was aware and there were no itinerary changes...

I see the Cruise Lines are jumping through hoops to change scheds and accomadate their Pax., but yet I see sooo much grumbling...

If it was one of your kids or loved ones that you were waiting on the results for,or worse yet, you should be kissing the Cruise Lines A$$es for taking you out of harms way...

The major part of any cruise is what YOU make of it, and that includes

the Ports-of-Call ... The changes may be inconvenient, but WHATEVER !!!

The point is it shouldn't be allowed, that is how diseases spread. Look at all the fuss made when that guy was traveling across borders with tuberculosis a few years back. Believe me, I understand where you are coming from as I am a parent too but what if your children became exposed because of those people??

I understand your position, but until they close the borders, nothing can be done to prevent a US citizen from crossing the border back into the US. I understand the baby was a citizen, correct? And tuberculosis is completely different -- it already IS a quarantinable disease where the flu -- any type -- is not.

No, the baby was not an American citizen.

Right! We all know this whole thing is totally Carnival's fault anyway.. They had advanced knowledge that the swine flu virus was awakening in Mexico, knew that it was going to spread, absolutely had advanced knowledge that the CDC would put out a travel advisory against travel to Mexico. They helped plan it actually-just to aggravate their passengers, change itineraries to keep people confined to the ships to spend money in the shops and casino. They get great pleasure from "screwing" their customers..... They actually give out prizes to those marketing geniuses who can come up with the best way to do it!!!!

It's a vast Carnival Corporation conspiracy.........and, I hear money changed hands between CCL and CDC with contributions to the President of Mexico and the heads of several media outlets.

Shameful, simply shameful.

This information has been on their website at least since yesterday morning around 800am when I checked to see what was happening with my cruise.... All you need to do is look....and read.

I understand everyone wants to know where their cruise is going, but we'll just have to sit back and wait. Carnival has no way of knowing what guidelines the CDC will issue, or how fast this will run its course. I'm sure Carnival and other cruiselines are just as anxious to get back to normal asap.

If had to guess...and this is strictly a guess...I would think that we'll continue to see changes at least for the next week or so. At this point, if I had a cruise coming up in the next few weeks (mine's still seven weeks out, but I'm not holding my breath), I would operate under the assumption that I won't be going to Mexico.
