What do YOU do during all those days at sea?

I LOVE the sea days! Nice relaxing days, sitting by the pool, listening to the band, having lots of foo foo drinks :D Sometimes dabble in the casino, there are all sorts of activities that go on during the day as well... but I really just prefer to find a good spot with friends, watch the ocean go by and RELAX! 8 days is alot of days at sea, but the more the better for me!!! At home I just can't get that type of REAL relaxation.... no phones, no work, no "little things that come up at home", no housework... AHHHHHH!!!!!! Gotta love it!!! My S&S card would be pitiful with 8 days at sea :D Enjoy and have a great cruise!!!!

Sleep late, have a leisurely breakfast, read a book, sit by the pool, go to a lecture, art auction, cooking demo, or whatever, play bridge, go to a dance class, walk around the ship, take a nap, have a drink, play trivia, listen to music--and it's time to get ready for dinner.

thanks for the tips - looking for something new - something to take me away from the boutiques, spa, CASINOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, and other atrocities, ha ha - well - 8 days in the casino would get reallllllly expensive for the two of us - any ideas you all can share would surely be appreciated, we cant wait to sleep late and relax and eat breakfast, and trot around and see all the decks and play shuffleboard and on and on and on - what say the rest of ye?!

I like to stop in at the library and pick up the daily trivia game to work on, get a lot of reading done, write in a trip journal I keep. This time I'm making sure to take my cards, cribbage board and backgammon set along (travelling with another couple). Of course, checking for interesting activities in the dailies :). Have never cruised this long before and am looking forward to the relaxation of sea days.

We start out with our daily sheet and a highlighter! Mark those things we think we would like to do.

And, between just regular stuff including watching people and relaxing...we get in as many of those things we can. We usually have a small khaki knapsack with our plastic drink thermos....a crossword book...2 pens...2 books to read and our ball caps...then wear our swimsuits with t-shirts and shorts pulled over.

And our favorite "ship" shoes!

On sea days I always do the wine tasting and high tea. In addition I generally do some or all of the following:

workout

email my friends to make them jealous

read

hang out in the jacuzzi, go to the sauna, then the steam room and finish with a shower

get a massage

art auction

board games

walk the ship

movies

nap in the sun

It's funny, when you see what folks do it may not sound like a full, interesting day. But, you'd be mistaken! You meet folks, hang out chatting, wander off to do something run into someone else and pretty soon it's time for tea or wine tasting. The hours just blow by once you're in vacation mode and you wonder how you ever managed to accomplish so much in such a short time.

I love sea days, breakfest, lay out at the pool, drink, laugh with friends, dance to the band. Lunch or snack. Sometimes a game of bingo.

On the last sea day I usually look through the shops. I love to get a xmas ornament of the ship I am on for the tree. Then to the pool.

Ofcouse Jackie you have 8 sea days. Pick up a game of mexican train, it is easy to play and fun. We did this on one cruise and lots of people came over to play that we did not even know. Its a great mixer.

Whatever you do you always have a great time on a cruise.

I ply my wife with booze so she wants to take a long afternoon nap. Then when she is asleep, I sneak into her purse, take alot of money out and hit the casino!

You BAD BOY!! If you weren't from Georgia, I'd swear you were my hubby!HAHAHAHAHA!!!!

I love to get up early and watch the sunrise, with a cup of coffee. I buy a thermal cup, big one, and fill it and head out to the deck and watch the sunrise. You can always take a nap later. Bingo is always fun, then eat , eat and eat some more. And foo foo drinks are always great, get you in the dancin mode. Love just layin in the lounge chair, listening to the music, and watching the participants in the "hairy chest or belly flop contests" Always a laugh to be had. Or volunteer your hubby to participate.

Do it all or do nothing, just have a fun relaxing vacation.

I would hate to see my sail and sign after 8 sea days though.

HAPPY CRUISING TO ALL!!!!!

everyone is saying the same thing about the sail and sign card...which is why I started this thread - get some new ideas and (hopefully) stay out of the casino and do some stuff that we never get to do...see a show for a change...sit around the pool, etc - even still, I think I will have to play some B-I-N-G-O!:)

Thanks to everyone for the great ideas and suggestions, we really appreciate it...keep them coming!

In past we always do as much as we can each day.. eating, seeing the different shows, going to casino, eating, bingo, eating, eating, taking a nap, going to the different entertainment things in the lounge such as learning to dance, newleywed show, etc. etc.. eating.. Did I mention eating?? :0) We literally went from one thing to the next and wore ourselves out... In May of this year I surprised my boyfriend with a 4 day cruise to Cozumel and we did nothing and it was great!! We layed out on the deck and that was the best time and most relaxing cruise so far!!.. Im planning on spending some of my upcoming sea days doing just that..

I am still tempted to one day take a cruise and never get off in port...therefore must go to places I have been....ok maybe get off and walk around a bit....then also....try and not meet anyone on cruise critics beforehand so that I KNOW no one and see who I meet....RIGHT!!! That ain't gonna happen...too much of a socializer!

You can get one on ebay. or at least check it out on there. it is a domino game comes in a traveling case. It is quite fun, easy even if you have had a couple of umbrella drinks that day.

I really love the kitchen tours and napkin folding and flambe exhibitions and galley tours with all the garnished works of art - just seeing the watermelon carved into a Asian Buddah face or swan is interesting to me

Love all the dough art and the ice carvings etc

Thanks again to everyone for all the ideas - I'm off to eBay to find out about the Mexican Train....just got my first item on eBay just the other day, it was a vintage souvenir fan given to cruisers aboard the NYK line - The company was started in 1885 with 58 steamships. N. Y. K. is abbreviation for Nippon Yusen Kaisha and the headquarters are in Tokyo, Japan. In 1945, after WW II there were only 37 vessels left, but the company has grown to be one of the largest shipping companies in the world, with megacarriers, container ships, Tankers, LPG carriers and luxury cruise ships - I cant wait to get it!

Kev and I like to spend time together, just the two of us, like we never get to do at home. There's a lot of romance on a cruise!

We also love to hang out with new friends, go to the shows, lay around and watch the ocean go by, play in the casino, get involved in the trivia games and of course, eat!

We usually bring our domino set and get at least a few games in.

Do you and Mr. Lucky like to play cards? I LOVE to play Spades, but haven't done that in years. It would be really fun to get a game going! Will you join us? It takes four to play (2 teams of 2), and it can be us against the guys! I'll put that deck of cards on my packing list!

First cruise was on Star Princess in Oct.--hooked now!

Let's see... (workout if ambitious),breakfast, bingo at 11:15, pool, burgers poolside for lunch, bingo at 4:15, shower, dress for dinner, cocktails, casino, late dinner, show, dancing....do it all over again!

I am NOT a lay at the pool kind of person, but there was so much going on, and I actually enjoyed lying there---much more fun if someone is bringing me drinks!!

Never thought I'd be into bingo, but what a hoot!

I can't wait another year.........

Happy cruising!
