Passport needed now for changed ports?

Some of my group has passports but some dont and werent planning on getting them since we were just going to mexico and were told we didnt need them there....now carnival has changed the the ports from cozumel to monetgo bay and the cayman islands? Do we need them now?

No you don't have to have them for those ports as far as I know. Never heard of them being required for them.

Nope--none of the Caribbean countries are the ones that require passports (for cruise passengers)--it's the United States that is making it's citizens go through all this trouble!

My understanding is you should be OK with those ports - if they took you to Belize or Roatan you'd need a passport. Probably a good idea to get one anyway, in an emergency I think you need it to be able to fly home from outside the U.S.

There is no need for a passport for any US citizen sailing on a closed loop (departing from and returning to the same US port...) to any destination in the Caribbean or Mexico...

Ok thanks so much....I have a passport so wasnt going to bother me any..haha...but glad to know the rules, seems like a few years ago there was conflicting information about whether you would need one or not.
