Hotel in Athens

We are looking for a Hotel for a one night post cruise stay in Athens. The problem is that we need a room that holds four people, 2 adults and 2 children, that is reasonably priced. Anyone have any suggestions?

Same advice you received about Istanbul. Advise you to go over to tripadvisor.com and read reviews.

More specifically, save a lot of hotel review reading time by just posting your question on tripadvisor's Athens forum. The Destination Experts there are very responsive to these types of questions.

this year we waiting in Greece 20-30% less turists... thats mean there are better prices if hotels don't have early reservations..

 

Ι recommend go to priceline.com (if you live in USA or Canada) and use the "Bid price" option for Athens hotels... next check the hotels who send you a good price for reviews on tripadvisor's Athens forum..

 

simply, do not hurry to reservation!!

Good hotel.. very bad area!! my home is 500 metres from there... try find something arround Syntagma square...

It gets good reviews on Tripadvisor ... other than the location which is outside of the historical district.

 

We stayed at the AVA Hotel (a few minutes walk to the Acropolis and Temple of Zeus) ... and I'm pretty sure they have rooms that will accommodate 4 people. They also have kitchenettes in them which makes it handy for keeping snacks, making breakfast and/or lunch. http://www.avahotel.gr/

Fafos is spot-on (as usual). Lousy area; Omonia Square is not a good area for tourists (the unsavory drug trade). Look for a place near the Plaka or Syntagma Square or the Acropoli metro stop.

 

Last October, we stayed at the Attalos, about the northernmost on Athinas that I would stay (a couple of minutes up Athinas from the Monastiraki metro stop). Next month, we are staying at the Cypria, closer to Syntagma, because we are focusing our sightseeing on the museums just east of Syntagma Square.

I don't know about the number of people per room, but it is a very good hotel, right in the plaka, near subway stations, shopping and Syntagma Square.

Cypria hotel is an excellent choise.. everything is "on your feet".. arcealogical sites, metro, taxi, busses and of course Plaka and Psyri for food and entertainment...

 

Cypria hotel has 2 types of family rooms (2 adults + 2 children): with 1 room and with 2 rooms.. 1 room start from 130 euros per day and with 2 rooms start from 180 euros per day..

 

Normally, Athens has 2 "faces".. one is the tourist and arhealogical sites (arround Syntagma, Plaka, Psyri etc) and the other is the bad sites where there isn't something special to see (like Omonoia square and roads arround Omonoia)
