Free Upgrades for Booking Onboard?

Forgive me if this has been discussed, but we have just returned from a cruise in Europe and I haven't been checking CC.

 

The future cruise consultant stated that, beginning in July, those who book onboard would receive a free cabin upgrade, inside to outside, outside to balcony.

 

I asked if this was just for Diamond members and he said "no, it's for everyone."

 

Is this true?

I suppose they have to do something to entice people to book onboard. Wonder if this can be "combined" with other offers?? Diamond balcony discount or Shareholder credit.

That doesn't sound fair if you are sailing before July and they tell you that you won't be eligible for this 'perk'. Unless they are saying that if you book on board for any sailing July or later, then that would be great.

 

I would love to know that the actual answer will be.

We were just off the Radiance of the Seas Members Cruise where we received upgrades but they were only within the balcony categories booked such as pay for a D3 and get a D2 or possibly a D1. No upgrades in the suite categories. You can combine with only one benefit.

 

Our information was with Celebrity you would get upgrades within the categories in the insides and oceanviews.
