Flight change question

The airline changed our flight in to Newark, arriving later than we wanted to for a same day cruise out of Cape Liberty. We can change from Newark to LaGuardia for an earlier flight time. How much of a hassle will it be from LaGuardia to the cruise port? Thanks in advance.

Not too much hassle-make arrangements with a car service (lots of them listed in this forum-see Meg's info) with $100 bill in hand. Allow AT LEAST a hour for the transfer, preferably 90 minutes. IF you take a taxi, you may have to wait a little while for a taxi-NYC cab drivers DO NOT have to take you to the cruise port (they do have to take you to EWR). So the taxi dispatcher will have to negotiate with the drivers. They actually make more money net doing three trips from LGA to Manhattan than they do driving to NJ and local trips take less time.

 

Highly recommend a car service from LGA to the cruise port.

1. IF they have one from LGA. A lot of the time cruise lines DO NOT run shuttles from the NYC proper airports for ALL cruises.

 

2. It will probably cost as much if not more than a car service

 

3. You have to wait until the bus is filled. Don't know what airline you are flying, BUT IF the cruise line has no one flying your airline at YOUR time, you will have to make your way to another terminal to meet the cruise bus. COULD be a real hassle moving to another terminal.

 

Things to think about and MAKE SURE you have the answers for YOUR cruise and cruise line.

I am going to offer a different suggestion. Can you fly in the night before? There is risk if you fly in the day of your cruise no matter what time of day you fly in. If the flight is canceled or delayed you could miss the ship. I see that you are from Texas. I am too so I am familiar with flying to the east coast from there. If flying n the day or night before is not an option, fly in as early as you can the day of embarkation and yes, go with Laguardia over Newark if the flight is 90 minutes earlier.
