Lady_Jag Posted May 20, 2009 #1 Share Posted May 20, 2009 How crazy are those jet engine powered hand dryers that Carnival has in the public restrooms! I stuck my hands under one of them on the Glory last week, and thought it was going to blow my skin off! :D No kidding, the tops of my hands RIPPLED from the powerful force of those things! The noise scared my 3-year-old, who I think stood a little too close to one of them and is now an inch shorter. No chance of ANYTHING sticking to your hands with THOSE dryers in the restrooms! I'd love to buy one just to mount to the back of my car so that I can reach Ludicrous speed! LOL!
beansatw Posted May 20, 2009 #2 Share Posted May 20, 2009 I saw a lot of men last week trying to dry their hands by using the little door handle tissues - funny how well those don't work! :D

The first time we saw them was in the family restroom at the outlet mall. He stood under it on accident while trying to reach the soap, and when it cut on, he ran just screaming like he'd broken his arm. He knows what to expect now, but he still refuses to dry his hands with it (he's 3 1/2). :o
Traveler353 Posted May 20, 2009 #5 Share Posted May 20, 2009 I thank that they are the only ones that I have seen that actually dry the hands.
LemurCat Posted May 20, 2009 #6 Share Posted May 20, 2009 I thank that they are the only ones that I have seen that actually dry the hands. And Swine Flu and Noro-wise they're actually better as you don't touch anything and reinfect your hands. And they're more environmentally friendly. poobears Posted May 20, 2009 #7 Share Posted May 20, 2009 We checked out a new casino last week (new to us) and they have dryers like this. It was so funny watching your hands under it (yeah I'm easily amused), those things blow LOL Of course I know a lot of Doctors don't like them. Unless they have internal filters they say they just suck all the germs from the air and put them on your hands, paper towels are better. Who knows but they are very cool to use :D
Traveler353 Posted May 20, 2009 #8 Share Posted May 20, 2009 I work in a VA hospital. The powers that be are replacing all the sinks, paper towel dispensers and water fountains with automatic systems. Much less chance of spreading the little beasties from person to person. Now if only they can train everyone to wash their hands before and after using the restroom. NO blowdryers because they do spread too much into the air. The Moving and Redesign Committee has spent literally months debating which blowers to use due to the price of getting the ones with the HEPA filters ...
fllady61 Posted May 20, 2009 #10 Share Posted May 20, 2009 i personally hate those dryers. drys the skin out too much. just remember if you have thin skin to not use them. or if your hands are already chapped due to weather. i prefer to just let them dry naturally. Then use a hand sanatizer. Which i use evertime I go to the bathroom at home also. OR where ever I am. sanatize everytime someone shakes my hand at church also. Senoj84 Posted May 20, 2009 #17 Share Posted May 20, 2009 I've never used the Carnival bathrooms. I just go back to my cabin. I'll have to find it on my next cruise just to check it out.
tink24 Posted May 20, 2009 #18 Share Posted May 20, 2009 My 3 year old DS was terrified of the hand blowers until my husband noticed the "FEEL THE POWER" sticker on them. After that my son kept asking to use the restroom just so he could "FEEL THE POWER." I think he found every restroom on the ship.:D I also saw him using them as hairdryers. dapaddo Posted May 20, 2009 #20 Share Posted May 20, 2009 We have these are work and when we first got them we found different items that will roll and took some pvc pipe to direct the airflow and had races betting on which item would move the fastest. we used cherries, grape tomatoes and small cars. It really was alot of fun.

ShedQueen77 Posted May 21, 2009 #25 Share Posted May 21, 2009 For those with little ones, how did the toilet flush go over? My youngest (5) thought it quite hilarious but the sound terrified my middle daughter (7). She'd run to our cabin (connecting) and wait there while we flushed for her.
