Milestones...

Do you have to take the milestone OBC on the 25th, etc. cruise? If so what happens when both people in the cabin have the same milestone date? Can one person use it for the next cruise?

No... as I experienced, and as Don pointed out above, you can pick which one to have it applied.

In our case - I picked one for mine, and Cheryl picked the next one (or something similar) for hers. If both used it at the same time, I would imagine that you'd have double the OBC

Thanks for the info Tom and now I have another question.

If we used two separate cruises I assume the OBC is only for the cost for one of us. Is it the whole price or cruise only without port charges, etc.?

OK here's another one. If you don't use the entire OBC on the cruise will you get the rest of it back in a check or something?

Thanks again.

The fellow was from Starwood Hotels - featured in an interview on John Heald's 1/5/09 blog: http://johnhealdsblog.com/2009/01/05/cmo/

Well... he has had a few months on the job, and we are now starting to see PICTURE FRAMES. I trust that is just the start (I sure hope so, LOL).

Tom

LOL, yes hopefully just the start, while I don't have quite the same reference point as you in terms of number of cruises, there is surely some open grounds where they can go (instead of just the 25,50,75,100). I will check out the blog as well.

Referencing your comments about all cruises counting the same. DO you know if all crusielines do the same as Carnival in that regards?

Correct - the OBC for the person "redeeming" that benefit is based solely on that individual's cruise fare (before port fees and taxes).

The question about not using all of your OBC... there have actually been entire threads devoted to that... and opinions differ. If you fear that you are not going to use it all, then just head to the casino and use your S&S card to buy some chips (or slot $).... then just CASH OUT. That way you don't risk losing the $ !

There are likely as many ways to count as there are cruise lines!

Here is how Celebrity does it (and I believe Royal Caribbean is very similar):

Classic Level Benefits* (After your 1st earned cruise credit)

One-Category Upgrade

Complimentary Custom Air Request

Presailing Specialty Restaurant Reservations

Priority Embarkation (where available) - Founder Classic Members Only

Exclusive Captain's Club Party

Captain's Club Premium Offers given for use during your sailing

Preferential Debarkation (where available) - Founder Classic Members Only

Reunion Cruises

Online Newsletter

Select Member Benefits (After 5 earned cruise credits)

Includes all benefits of Classic membership, plus:

Behind-the-Scenes Tours

Wine Seminar

Priority Status for Shore Excursion Waitlist

Senior Officer's Cocktail party

Opportunity to enroll in Royal Caribbean's Crown & Anchor Society program at the Platinum Level

Elite Member Benefits (After 10 earned cruise credits)

Includes all benefits of Classic & Select membership, plus:

Private Shipboard Departure Lounge with Continental Breakfast

Priority Tender Service

Priority Waitlist for Dining Room Seating

Complimentary use of the Thalassotherapy Pool *Limitations Apply (Only on Celebrity Mercury)

Opportunity to enroll in Royal Caribbean's Crown & Anchor Society program at the Diamond Level

*Cruise Credits are calculated by:

1 cruise credit per sailing

1 additional cruise credit on itineraries of 12 nights or more

1 additional cruise credit for booking a AquaClass stateroom, Concierge Class stateroom or Suite. (AquaClass available on Solstice Class only)

(maximum of 3 cruise credits per sailing)

A qualified cruise does not involve special faring - ie. a complimentary cruise would not classify as a qualified cruise.

We have sailed with Celebrity three times, and have 6 credits as a result. After our next two Century sailings we will reach 10.

100 cruises seems a major sum, but considering that on the last bloggers cruise John Heald hosted in February on the Fantasy, it doesn't seem illogical. He featured a family travelling in the group and the 7 year old daughter of the family had 15, yes FIFTEEN cruises under her belt. She was the youngest platinum guest n the ship and I would say youngest ever. SEVEN years old and she's been on fifteen cruises, wow. Imagine how many she will have been on by the time she turns 18--perhaps 25 or more.

Ashley is now on cruise #17 as they just got the Holiday a couple of days ago. The family lives about 6 miles from me.

We have only 7 more cruises to go to get to our first Milestone.

P.S. We booked suites on each of our milestones to get the maximum credit.

I wished booking suites on Carnival made a difference.. we'd be at that first milestone by now.

Booking a suite may not help extra toward reaching the milestone, but it does earn you more obc.

Carnival contacted us shortly after the Blogger's Cruise to let us know that DJ (age 17) is one of SIX people in the World that are the first Milestone Reward Members under the age of 18. (No, we are not Travel Agents and we have never worked for Carnival. LOL)

He just completed his 31st Carnival Cruise!!!

I beg to differ.

You've recruited numerous (aka Many) passengers to make their way up to the karaoke stage.

I call that 'work'. :D

For most anyone, that's a feat... for a TEEN, that's amazing!

Hope you had a great cruise!!!
