How many formal nights on 20-day SA/Antarctica cruise?

Trying to figure out how to fit everything into one suitcase and one carry-on per person.

 

I'm 'guessing' six as there are generally two a week on shorter cruises? That's a LOT of extra clothes.

I don't remember if it was four, or six (I can go look it up later).

But one suitcase??? :eek: This cruise is going to go from the very hot/humid to the cold/possibly frigid---with everything in between. Just the clothing for daytime, with no consideration for any evening clothes whatsoever, would easily fill one suitcase. Once you start packing for smart casual, the formal wear only adds a little more.

Last I heard, International travelers were still allowed 2 checked bags without an extra charge. We did take silk long underwear, but we still took plenty of COLD weather gear. We wanted to spend as much time out on deck in Antarctica as we could.

We have been on 21 day cruises -- 5 formal nights.

And we have been on 23 day cruises -- 6 formal nights.

We always take 2 suitcases and 1 carry-on per person.

We had 5 formal nights in January on the Amsterdam. We took an extra suitcase to cover the varying weather conditions. Neither Delta nor American charged for a second bag though flying from Chile to Peru after the cruise was expensive. All luggage was weighed and hefty charges were levied before the boarding passes were issued. My DH rented the tux for the first time and it worked out great; fit perfectly and only $105 including shoes.
