kdesantis Posted May 28, 2009 #1 Share Posted May 28, 2009 I was wondering how much it cost to go to the specialty resturants? I heard 25.00 but is that per person or per cabin or per table? if anyone can help it will be appreciated.

There are specialty restaurants as low as $10 and as much as $25. What ship are you cruising?
Griller Posted May 28, 2009 #3 Share Posted May 28, 2009 On Jewel last week Cagneys $25 (was $20 previously) Le Bistro $15 Teppanyaki $25 Chin Chin (Asian) $15 Tangos (TexMex, inc small Margarita) $10 Mamas (Italian) $10 We never paid full cost as there was an Early Bird Special 5.30 to 6.30 at each of them, 50% Discount, but you cannot know in advance if this is going to happen or not, nice if it does though if you prefer eating early. Teppanyaki and Cagneys are often excluded from Early Bird Specials as the ingredient cost is too high.
kdesantis Posted May 28, 2009 Author #4 Share Posted May 28, 2009 we are going on the spirit on july24th. thanks for your help. ihave two other questions. do they still serve lobster in the main dining rooms? and do they still have formal nights? 2Cruise4Ever Posted May 28, 2009 #5 Share Posted May 28, 2009 They're very similar ship to ship. All those prices are the same on the Dawn. But, the names of the restaurants are different. Chin Chin is Bamboo; Tangos is Salsas; and Mamas is Impressions of Italy
Don Haynes Posted May 28, 2009 #6 Share Posted May 28, 2009 Lobster is served two on two nights during a one week cruise. NCL has embraced resort casual, but the lobster nights are also called dress up or not nights. Most don't dress up.

Yes, there will be probably two "lobster" nights. Be aware that if you are expecting the kind of lobster you would get in Maine (or anywhere else along the New England coast) then you will be disappointed. But, yes, the ship still serves an item they refer to as "lobster".
sophiethd Posted May 28, 2009 #8 Share Posted May 28, 2009 This is new to me, just wondering what the price per person actually covers in the Restaurant ?
2Cruise4Ever Posted May 29, 2009 #9 Share Posted May 29, 2009 It depends on where you eat. If you dine in one of the main dining rooms there is no cover charge. That's where they serve the caribbean lobsters (not from Maine). But, if you dine in a specialty restaurant (like Cagneys), you'll pay a service charge. sillysailor 1955 Posted May 29, 2009 #11 Share Posted May 29, 2009 Having sailed on 3 NCL ships (Dawn, Spirit & Jade) and having eaten at least once at a specialty restaurant on each - I would honestly save the money and just eat in the maining dining room or the buffet. I honestly felt extra fee was not worth it. I feel that you are already paying enough why pay extra for food that is really not any better than what you get in the dining room. Just my opinion NCL Cheerleaders!:)
garycarla Posted May 29, 2009 #12 Share Posted May 29, 2009 No formal nights on NCL. Per person charge for optional restaurants runs $10 to $25. Main restaurants, buffet, room service, blue lagoon are no extra charge.

sophiethd Posted May 29, 2009 #14 Share Posted May 29, 2009 Food. What I meant with my question is if we are limited to certain items on the menu or once you are in the restaurant you can freely order what they offer without extra charges. ie : food and drinks (except for wine or alcohol)
snorklinbarb Posted May 29, 2009 #15 Share Posted May 29, 2009 Griller is correct. Cagney's (listed on bakerintn's list as $20) is now $25pp fleetwide.

In the Tex-Mex restaurant the $10 cover charge also includes a small frozen margarita. In Cagneys there are some items in a separate section on the menu that have an additional surcharge, but aside from that you can choose anything on the menu. Drinks are not included. In both cases, those items that are an additional charge are clearly marked on the menu and there are plenty of nice choices that are included in the price of admission. Main restaurants, buffet, room service, blue lagoon are no extra charge. i thought they had 1 formal night (im thinking more of a cocktail type dress affair) on NCL sailings? is it safe to assume that the 2 lobster tails will crop up on our 2 sea days when sailing the Star? Toyz711 Posted May 29, 2009 #20 Share Posted May 29, 2009 no official formal nights...just 2 "dress up or not" nights. dress code stays the same for all 7 nights, resort casual. small caribbean lobster tails could be served on one of those nights, the other nights will be a seafood medley of some kind. Mrs. H. Posted May 29, 2009 #23 Share Posted May 29, 2009 The specialty restaurants are soooo worth it!! :D We loved Impressions, LeBistro & Salsa a few weeks ago. LeBistro was so good we had dinner served to us in our room from LeBristo. Just sorry we didn't get to Cagney's one night. (breakfast & luch was great @ Cagneys):) As for the Venetian main dining room....went there one night and the beef ghoulash was horrible and the waiter was slow and close to 90 years old. (no joke) I have to say the ice cream was very good. Garden Cafe was something I will never go back to, thats for sure. Like my mom always says, 'you get what you pay for,' and when it comes to the specialty restaurants, it true. Go for it, if you can.
keishashadow Posted May 30, 2009 #24 Share Posted May 30, 2009 No problem on NCL either. :)thanx surprised to see lebistro only $15 add on, may do the romance package afterall & drag along teenage son, if he doesn't find anything particularly appealing on the menu; he can always hit the buffet afterwards.;)
