Victoria Wineries or Tastings?

Recommended Posts

Any Wineries or wine tasting shops around port?

Not really. The main wine growing region in BC is about 4 hours inland from Vancouver.

That being said, there are a couple of wineries about an 3/4 hour north of Victoria in/around Duncan.

If you're merely looking for a good liquor store, the best one is the Fort St/Foul Bay Rd liquor store, about 3 miles from downtown.

Actually Scottbee, there's more than "a couple" of wineries north of Victoria. The Cowichan Valley wineries are some of the best in BC. Unfortunately for the original poster, they are too far away from the cruise dock to get to visit during their stop.

I'm aware of the fact there are more than a couple, but they're all VERY small. Many of the Okanagan wineries output exceed all the Vancouver Island wineries combined.

How about a great place to have a top of the line bottle of wine (maybe place with a view or romantic atmosphere)?

You might want to check out the Chateau Victoria Hotel, which has a roof-top dining room. Here is the website:

There are other restaurants and lounges in the downtown area as well. I lived in Victoria for 35 years, but moved away a few years ago. I'm sure one of the locals will be along to recommend something. :)

There are also wineries on the Saanich Peninsula. You would need to rent a car to visit the wineries.

The following link is for a map of the various wineries that will be participating in the Saanich Peninsula Hospital Foundations Blackberry Ramble Bike Ride on September 13, 2009.
