ksatte03 Posted June 5, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 5, 2009 "Cruise Inc: Big Money on the High Seas" Check it out! Not sure if they'll feature any Carnival ships but it talks about cruising in general "Peter Greenberg reports on the cruise industry. Included: his 7 day stay on the Norwegian Pearl"

ETinCA Posted June 5, 2009 #4 Share Posted June 5, 2009 It is interesting, but picking NCL kind of skews things. It shows a couple complaining about the pay for dining, but this is primarily NCL. So it makes the other lines look bad. Also, I thought it makes a CD look non-genuine with the "business" aspect. I saw this last week. Cool though. I don't know anyone who drinks that much!!
falkcor Posted June 5, 2009 #7 Share Posted June 5, 2009 I can't believe they said they need every guest to spend an avg of $700 in liquor! I don't know anyone who drinks that much!! LOL, i could do that in a week :D but you mis-heard. it's 7.25 per guest, per day - so just about 50.00 per person for a 7 day cruise.

Whew! I'm glad you cleared that up! I didn't see the show, so I accepted the $700 statement as true when I read ksatte03's post. I was thinking indignant thoughts about NCL saying that while contributing to the general sad state of alcoholism! Glad to know it's only $7 :D
skiorcruise Posted June 5, 2009 #9 Share Posted June 5, 2009 I've seen this program several times - good visual shots of Carnival ships at POM. The cuts from the CEO of NCL are interesting - he says all of the politically correct things about environmental costs, accidents and fires at sea, etc. We all need to remember that all of the cruise lines are in business to make money for their shareholders - isn't that why we hold 100 shares of Carnival stock? Surely it's not for the OBC we get!

We don't drink so we don't contribute anything in liquor but we make our proper donations in the casino to cover our part :D

CasinoQueen Posted June 5, 2009 #14 Share Posted June 5, 2009 I went to cnbc's website ..because I missed the live TV viewing of the show...and you can watch the whole show on your computer. Here is the link to the show. http://www.cnbc.com/id/15840232?play=1&video=1139954767 I watched it last night...it was ok. Durning the show they mentioned that NCL offered classes...Like brandy or wiskey tasting classes for $15. I would like to take a class like that on a carnival cruise. Durning the show they mentioned that NCL offered classes...Like brandy or wiskey tasting classes for $15. I would like to take a class like that on a carnival cruise. Never seen it offered, but we did do a wine tasting on one of the boats. Wasn't worth it in my book because of the wines the choose. Still fun though. As for the show, it was pretty good, and well worth the 40 minutes of my time (got to love DVRs). On other note - The bar bill included sodas. My guess is it is the same on Carnival and likely they set their fountain fun cards at the level they need the guest to spend to make their profit. All I know is I've done my fair share at making Carnival money on each of my cruises.
