Noisy Carnival Cruise Ship Ruins Familys Cruise

Agreed, this is why the cruise prices keep going up, we all pay for it in the long end.

Nooooo, it's the booze smugglers and the boorish people who order multiple entrees who cause the prices to go up. This was firmly established several years ago right here on CC. :D

Noise on the ship is one of those things you have to sometimes put up w/ on a cruise. For me, it is just part of the experience - Like having to deal with lines at Disney World. It isn't something that keeps me from cruising. I completely understand people being upset about it. The answer is to do a little research on cabin location. Although, this does not protect you from rude neighbors. This episode seems like a fairly mild occurrance(both in decibels and the lateness of the noise) and Carnival more than made an attempt to satisfy.

Now, as to the jerks across the hall on our recent Victory cruise, I hope you enjoyed all of the 7 am hang-up phone calls I made to your cabin to repay you for your nightly 4 am hallway parties! :D

LOL, did you really? I hope so because it sounds like they deserved it.

I guess DH and I should've complained when sound from the Karaoke lounge below us kept us up a couple of nights on our Glory cruise last may, we could've got $900 back. :DSeriously, I think the compensation these people were given was insanely adequate for the problem they had. If Carnival ever offered me such compensation for such a small complaint, I would praise them over and over again, and thank them by spending said money on their ships. Some people, however, are just sickeningly greedy and will never be happy. I prefer to stay away from these people and am quite happy when they decide not to sail on my cruise line of choice.

On one of our post-cruise hotel stays we stayed at the Milano Hotel in San Juan. I had read on a few reviews to make sure that you did not book a front room because of the noise of people partying all night. Well, I didnt say anything when we had a front room because I thought how bad can it be.

It was bad! The noise level from sirens, people screaming and hollering, horns tooting woke us up a few times. My husband wanted to go join in, however, I just took a couple more sleeping pills which did the trick.

We were on Glory in early March and just below the Lido deck. Every morning we heard the chairs being moved around. To us, it was part of the cruise. Maybe we should have complained and gotten a future discount. After all, we now have 2 cruises booked.

If I were to have to save for years to go on a cruise, I would darn sure do a lot of research. I wonder if these people booked a guaranty cabin. If so, they got a lower price, and no choice of cabin, but if they allowed someone, IE, a PVP or TA to choose the cabin, then it's their own fault.

I don't agree with the compensation paid to them. Most cabins can have some noise, IE people talking late at night, music, chairs moving etc. They got wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy too much for their "inconvenience."

I do bet though, that these people will use the credit and sail on Carnival again. They will then try to get more money. Each cruise for them will cost them less than you or I would pay for the same accommodations. Gee, somehow I remember a couple who did the same thing to RCI and I think, but am not sure, to Carnival. They were finally banned from the major lines and last I knew they were touting NCL.

I never saw a post from them about NCL or anything after their ban, but it seemed like a good way to reduce the price of a cruise.

I just read the beginning of the article....that was the same cabin number we had on the Victory and the same problem.....and the disagreement I had with the CD and catching him in a great lie......

Hubby had just recovered from surgery so it was a very uncomfortable cabin....what saved us was I brought earplugs....

I go to bed at 3 - 4am after closing the piano bar and casino. Get a couple slices of pizza and a nightcap on the balcony and it is as silent as it can get going to sleep. They shoulda taken the OBC, enjoyed the nightlife and slept when it was quiet.

Course somebody on our last cruise kept calling at 7am every morning and hanging up and I could not sleep in :D

I'm going to be in the same general area on the Splendor come Sunday, and having been there before, I know our room is above where the band plays at night. They can have at it...I'll be in the Piano Bar! I don't intend to go to bed until 1pm-ish anyway.

The problem I have with this story is: why the heck did Carnival offer them $900 to begin with? I think that is way way way too much for something like this. To me, that amount validates their complaint. I think Carnival made a mistake by even offering such a high amount. Maybe a $50 spa credit would have been more appropriate!

If Carnival was going to compensate them half their cruise fare of $900, how did they manage to spend $5000 including hotel & airfare?:confused:

I'm going to complain like crazy on my next cruise if I hear even one chair scrape so I too can get a refund even though I'm on a wonderful awesome ship with nothing to do except have FUN!!!:p

Didn't the article state that the noise was over by 1 a.m.? And this somehow ruined their whole night sleep? Unbelievable. 1 a.m just isn't that late to justify $1400 in compensation. Especially when you're on vacation! Don't most people stay up a bit later anyway? Sounds like CCL bent over backward for this guy.

mistyinca, what cabin do you have on the Splendor? We were in 6456 on the May 10th cruise and there definitely was a noise problem there. It was like being inside a lowrider with the loud speakers going full blast. The cabin floor vibrated as did things that were sitting on the counter. I have a recording of the sound if you would be interested.

I hope you have a good cruise.

I think I want to sue the Moscoes. After reading about their stupid "complaint," my BP went up, which affects my well-being and potentially endangered my life. Additionally, my DH and DD had to deal with me during those 60 seconds I was p*$$ed off, thus affecting their quality of life.

Lady_Jag,

Would love to sit on the jury for your trial. You'd own the renaming rights to Moscoes after all was said and done. :D

I would also suggest that you NOT read the comments on the articles message board; some are OK, some are right on, and some are flat out elitist kaka.

:confused:Isn't cabin 6363 about 14 cabins aft of the Atrium?

What about the other 101 cabins that are exactly the same distance away or closer??

OK I'm bored...Yes, i did just count the cabins:p

Quit doing what I do! :D
