Tortola Tender on Caribbean Princess??

My itinerary shows that we are tendering while in Tortola. There are 3 other ships in port on the same day. Two arrive at 8:00 am (CB is one of them) and one arrives at 11:00.

 

Who determines who gets the dock?

If there is anyone who has sailed the Southern Caribbean recently that had to tender?

We tendered in Tortola in January on Sea Princess. All the open sided buses were waiting for us on the dockside if we wanted to go to the beach or tour.

We did not tender in Tortola last summer on the CB. However, if your itinerary states you will be tendering, I would take it as a pretty good indication that you will be doing so.

We were there in March of 09 on the Caribbean.Our tickets said we were tendering but we did'nt.There were several other ships that did tender.

Who determines who gets the dock?

The harbormaster of any port has control over which ship docks or tenders. They control all the shipping and boats coming in or out of the harbor. I've been on cruises where tendering had to stop even if the ship is scheduled to leave because the harbormaster has decided that a local fishing boat needs the dock space. This isn't at all unusual.

I think we were supposed to tender on our honeymoon 4 years ago but we ended up docking instead.
