swdke Posted June 14, 2009 #1 Share Posted June 14, 2009 I'll be on a Princess cruise this fall for a New England cruise. Does anyone know where the Princess ships dock in Boston, and how I can get from the ship to the Freedom Trail? I see that that the tours begin in Boston Common, and I was wondering how to get there? I prefer to do a self tour rather than a Ship tour, but need info and help on getting to the start point of the Freedom Trail. Thank you
Nanatravel Posted June 14, 2009 #2 Share Posted June 14, 2009 Ships dock at Black Falcon pier. There is a bus stop about 1 city block from the ship near the parking garage. I would highly recommend a Trolley Tour also, as this will give you freedom to explore all of Downtown Boston and save your energy. You can check on-line for the Boston Old Town Trolley schedule to find out about independent price and where it stops. I truley believe the ship will offer this tour as well, so check for pricing. 138east Posted June 14, 2009 #3 Share Posted June 14, 2009 There is much more information on the Freedom trail on the New England ports forum. Here's what I said over there. Here's the Freedom Trail map from their website. http://www.thefreedomtrail.org/maps/...on-nps-map.pdf And the National Park site http://www.nps.gov/bost/planyourvisit/index.htm There is one visitor's center in Boston Common (city of Boston) and the other (NPS) by State and Congress across from the Old State House. And still another over by the Constitution. http://www.thefreedomtrail.org Here are the directions from Black Falcon to Boston Common. For $2/pp you take the Silver Line bus from the Black Falcon Terminal to South Station. At South Station you walk all the way to the right on the platform and go DOWN 1 flight to the Red Line - direction Alewife. Take any train two stops to Park Street, which is at the Boston Common. It is a short walk to the Visitor Center at the beginning of the trail. There is also a "T" option for going from Long Wharf at the Aquarium over to the Constitution if you don't feel like walking it. http://www.mbta.com/schedules_and_ma...ines/?route=F4

I will add, wear comfortable shoes and if you get lost, ask folks. Bostonians are proud of their city...
