Seafood "shacks" for car travellers?

This is actually going to be a car trip, but I've gotten so much good advice from CC'ers that I think I'll ask here.

 

We're going to be visiting Maine for a few days this month...pilgrimage to Freeport, and then up the coast and into New Brunswick to visit family.

 

We love to check out seafood chowders, clams, lobster rolls, and down on the pier lobster dinners...and then there're scallops etc.:D Can anyone recommend some casual places where we could indulge? We don't mind taking side trips for food!

Try Cooks lobster house on Bailey's Island (off Brunswick) just north of freeport --- Very Very good Food --- plus a nice drive out to the island and a great shop at the end. Make sure you now have your passports if you are going to New Brunswick as they are now required. Also make sure to visit St. Andrews.

Love going there for birthdays. As Jan said, there are many places to visit. MSNBC.com recently had a list of the 10 best pounds here in Maine. Good luck and happy eating.

Rich - After I posted I kicked myself for not mentioning the Haraseeket. They have the best desserts .... all homemade and totally wonderful. I really like their lemon pie .... just delightful!! Jan

Yum! I'm starting to drool already.

 

Actually, we're coming from Ontario, so we'll need passports to get INTO Maine.........

 

And with all those suggestions, it just may be hard to get me to leave!
