Visa Points for Discount on Cruise Fare....??

Recommended Posts

Has anyone been able to use more than one Visa Certificate for Cash off their cruise??? I KNOW you can use mulitple coupons for Onboard Credit...but what about money off?? I will be in "between" certificate reward levels and would like to redeem 3- 15,000 pt coupons for $450 off my cruise...

Thanks...

I am 99.9% sure you can do what you are wanting. This past May we used two certificates, one for price reduction, one for OBC.

I would just call the 800 on your card 800-421-2110 and tell them you are wanting to redeem some of you points for certificates and am sure they will get you to the right department.

It's begining to look like I am the only person who ever wanted to use 45,000 points all for $$ off their cruise... I really don't want to call for the certificate & then find out I can only use ONE for money off...I'd rather save the points, than have to use the rest for OBC...

I know for sure you can - my girlfriend just did it on the 4th of july cruise. She was in a cabin by herself so wanted to get the cost down as much as possible. Cashed in 2 15k coupons for $150 off each and applied both the the cost of her room.

What you can't do is use your points and someone elses. She tried to use a 15k point cert from her mom for another $150 off and could not do it, so we applied that to my and my husband's cabin and I just paid the $150 towards her cabin. Since I wasn't using any points on this cruise, it worked out great.

Give C and A a call and ask for a Royal Points Reward specialist and they can answer your question for you. I just redeemed points for a free upgrade and can NOT use any points towards additional money off my fare. I can only use them for OBC

I was wondering the same thing if you are in between levels.

It's on the website, under the Deals and Gifts button.

$150 USD onboard credit toward onboard purchases i.e Spa, Shore Excursions, Gift Shop, Bar, etc (multiple onboard credits may be applied to a reservation if earned)

It's not much after you have spent $15,000, but it doesn't hurt.

On our last cruise, we cashed in 10000 points, which came in two different coupons - each for 5000 points. We sent both in and got the $100 off the cabin. There should be no problem in sending in a few certificates.

Before you do this, decide if this is the best value for you. When you accumulated 5000 more points, you can get a free three or four night cruise for two, which will give you a higher return on your points. If you used 50000 points for a reduced cruise fare, you will get a 1 % return - $500. If you used it for a cruise for 2, you will get credited for the cheapest outside credit for 2 or $500 per person (whichever is less), which is $1000 in total, or a 2% return on the points. Just giving you a little food for thought.

Thanks Benita...we have 3 of us cruising & are trying to reduce the cruise fare as much as possible.. since we are sailing out of San Juan & have airfare to consider.. we've also splurged & booked a suite so for us the $$ off is the best choice.
