skinnyminny1970 Posted July 11, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 11, 2009 Just wondering if the ships have self-service mats or if you have to send clothes out. Thanks!
firefly333 Posted July 11, 2009 #2 Share Posted July 11, 2009 Yes, they do have them. About 4 decks on Conquest for instance have them. $2 per machine and you can buy your detergent in them out of the dispensers too. Also a ironing board and iron. southbayer Posted July 11, 2009 #3 Share Posted July 11, 2009 Just food for thought tho on that.... If you plan on doing washing while on board, get a stateroom close to the laundry room - or you'll be carrying your clothes down those loooonnnnngggggggg hallways yourself!

matt082600 Posted July 11, 2009 #6 Share Posted July 11, 2009 Just wondering if the ships have self-service mats or if you have to send clothes out. Thanks! They do and I have found them most useful; especially when travelling with kids! Check the ship's deck plans to see exactly where they are located. Rare Terre Posted July 11, 2009 #7 Share Posted July 11, 2009 Here's a pic of ours on the Liberty: There is also an ironing board with iron in them. I love them for that reason, I certainly don't spend time doing laundry on vacation, but if I need something pressed before dinner, I can run down the hall and press it. croozin_boozin Posted July 11, 2009 #8 Share Posted July 11, 2009 they do. my advice: pack less clothes and buy discounted clothes at the ports if you feel like you need more.
teletubbymom Posted July 11, 2009 #9 Share Posted July 11, 2009 Doing laundry while on vacation is not my favorite thing but the laundry room on the Imagination was a savior during our last cruise. With 3 girls who are very active, it was not coming home and having a weeks worth of laundry to do.:)
LA Lady Posted July 14, 2009 #10 Share Posted July 14, 2009 No way, airlines charge $25.00 for that 2nd bag True, Diana! I don't think about airlines though...I live within 4 hours of Galveston and New Orleans, so that didn't cross my mind!

AZ Karaoke Girl Posted July 14, 2009 #13 Share Posted July 14, 2009 You can usually find out where the laundry rooms are on your particular ship by checking out http://www.cruisedeckplans.com/DP/Main/shipscarnival.php What ship are you on? Quarters can usually be obtained in the casino at the change machine or the pursers desk. $2/load to wash, $2/load to dry, $1/box of soap etc. It can be expensive but if you just have one or 2 loads it isn't so bad. But usually not many machines. On the Pride, the room I went to had one washer, 2 dryers one iron board in very small room and it was usually in use. bleuiz Posted July 14, 2009 #14 Share Posted July 14, 2009 Karen I saw those new sheets at the store. What did you think, do they work good? They worked fine.....I did laundry on a port day when most people were onshore....
Gayle V Posted July 14, 2009 #15 Share Posted July 14, 2009 Just be ware of that plan, about doing laundry while in port. There are many ports where the laundry facilities must be kept closed. Not all, but some. So make sure, before you count on having them available. BTW, the irons are always available, port day or not.
sjcruiser Posted July 15, 2009 #16 Share Posted July 15, 2009 The laundry rooms are great. Prices cheap and the machines do a great job or washing and drying. Washing Powder, dryer sheets and fabric softener are available in dispensing machines. I take my own steamer, but I use the iron to touch up polo shirts and shirt for formal night, which I do all the ironing at once. The laundry rooms are usually empty very early in the morning and during dinner and the show.

Rare mizLORInj Posted July 15, 2009 #18 Share Posted July 15, 2009 Yes, and that is one reason I sail cruiselines with laundromats over those that do not have them. I want to be able to do a load of wash a few days into the cruise so I don't have to pack as much. I'd rather bring less and do some wash. Not sure what ship you're on, but the day we anchored at Half Moon Cay on the Miracle, mid-afternoon to dinnertime there were people in a line to use the washer. There are two irons in the laundry rooms on the ship.
