tulman Posted July 22, 2009 #126 Share Posted July 22, 2009 I put money in the one-armed-bandits, my wife takes it out. So we usually break even:D NOT!
happycrusin Posted July 22, 2009 #127 Share Posted July 22, 2009 Yes, I may be one of those rare birds but I love slots and I have at the very least broke even at the end of every cruise. I usually walk away at the end at least a few hundred up. Can't expalin it either...
buckeyecruiser09 Posted July 23, 2009 #128 Share Posted July 23, 2009 ROULETTE -Does anyone know if the Roulette on the Legend is U.S. or European? I know the odds are better with European. I'm on the 8/2 Legend cruise and I'd like to bring some money home. Roulettee is a blast.

ehfl Posted July 23, 2009 #130 Share Posted July 23, 2009 If you gamble, do it for fun, not to win money. The odds are against the gambler and in favor of the casino. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gambler's_ruin If you don't understand the math involved, then just be assured that in the long term, there is no way to beat the casino. They will always win. So do it for fun...enjoy yourself. You may even win a little bit of money on chance. But don't fall into the trap of expecting to keep winning. gapopes5 Posted July 23, 2009 #131 Share Posted July 23, 2009 Do you take rolled coins or would it be better to use your S&S card? Please tell me that the machines do take real money..... The slot machines are what we will use the most. If you do take rolled money, what rolled coins do you take?:)
nycruiser1975 Posted July 23, 2009 #132 Share Posted July 23, 2009 I am not as fortunate as the others who one a lot. But this was our first cruise. On the slots I won $55.00 (don't laugh, I was happy), and I never blackjack before and together we won about $200.

For those that don't know, the U.S. Roulette wheel has zero and double zero. This increases the odds for the house. European Roulette wheels use only a single zero. Good Luck when on your vacation. Also, have a good time.
Alibaster McGillicutty Posted July 23, 2009 #134 Share Posted July 23, 2009 I know for a fact you can win money in a Carnival Casino. I was playing video poker, won a few.......started losing.......walked away......lady started playing the same machine I was on.......about 10 hands later......JACKPOT!!!! Over $1100 I saw it with my own eyes so I know you can win. Just wish I would have seen it AND felt it. I hate those stalkers. I like playing blackjack but you better have around $200 to even enjoy yourself even on a $5 table. You can hit a losing streak that will take that much away from you even if you play the odds to your best advantage. I usually take $100 to spend knowing they will probably get it from me. Last time I was up $100 so I walked away.....and right down to the bar so they got it from me one way or another.

You're lucky if you get your S&S card back cause you sure won't get the coins or paper money back!!!:D:D

However, you could do better playing at the craps table. Can you hit a losing streak, of course, but, the odds are less in favor of the house at craps rather than BJ. I haven't studied the odds enough to know. We were in Vegas once where a casino was giving a craps lesson. I was lost 5 minutes into it. Guess I need to buy a book or google it. islandcroozers Posted July 26, 2009 #149 Share Posted July 26, 2009 I'm not a huge gambler. I'll take 20 bucks at a time and feed it into a quarter slot machine....and when it's gone, it's gone. On the first cruise I lost a fair amount of money playing bingo. IMO your odds are better in the casino than at the bingo games. The most I ever won at a sitting on my $20 was $80, but I'm not complaining! Overall I've probably just about broke even. Fairly cheap entertainment..... Most Vegas Casinos located on Las Vegas Blvd., aka "the strip", gives gaming lessons. It sometimes takes awhile to get all the information down pat. However, you don't have to be an expert on the game to get started. There are some good books about playing craps and some decent web sites.
