HoosiersWhoCruise Posted July 20, 2009 #1 Share Posted July 20, 2009 Have any cruisers been on the Brilliance of the Seas ship? Just wanted to see if there are any tips or suggestions about the ship and any activities?
maureencruiser Posted July 20, 2009 #2 Share Posted July 20, 2009 Hello, It is hard to say your screen name:). I'd hate to try it ten times fast. Have you looked under reviews? People share a lot of info there about the ship and the activities. Just remember, there will always be a lot of "Negative Nancys" (worst cruise ever, worst ship ever, worst food ever). Check your roll call as well, people there are probably discussing a lot of things. Have fun...Maureen
CruzinSuz Posted July 20, 2009 #3 Share Posted July 20, 2009 Have any cruisers been on the Brilliance of the Seas ship? Just wanted to see if there are any tips or suggestions about the ship and any activities? It has to be my favorite ship. We were on her two years ago doing the Med, it was a fantastic cruise. We've been on her 3 times. Love the Radiance class ships. I don't know what to tell you other than enjoy the back deck in the Windjammer, check out the Seaview cafe on deck 12. You can play pool on Deck 6, check out the speciality restaurants on deck 6 too. First time we were on her, doing a 10 day caribbean about 4 years ago, we had two couple's from Canada sitting at the table beside us...one of the guys won 25K on the $5.00 slot machine. Not just on one night but over three nights. We saw his picture on the board outside of the casino, so it was a true story. I don't know if this helps you or not, do you have any more specific questions?
cb at sea Posted July 20, 2009 #4 Share Posted July 20, 2009 She's a beautiful ship...but I prefer the "open air" Solarium on the Voyager class ships. I was never able to use the solarium for tanning or sunning and swimming, because they never opened the roof! It was like a "greenhouse"---yes, it had A/C, but it's still humid. As far as the casino...the BJ dealers were the best I've ever encountered---you couldn't push with a 20....very sad. The dealers won every time. The Seaview Cafe is a great place to eat--Italian fare...pizzas (mmmm!) pasta, salads, paninis...very good! And, they have indooor and outdoor seating. KansCocoa Posted July 20, 2009 #5 Share Posted July 20, 2009 I was just on the Brilliance in June - LOVED it. I've posted an extensive review/blog - including photos - at http://sodell2.blogspot.com. For each day, I've tried to mention as many of the ship's activities and shows that I could remember - even if I went to them or not. A lot of people have found the blog helpful in their own planning. I found the crew wonderful on the ship - and we had an awesome time. I couldn't say it better ..we cruised on the BOS thru the Panama Canal a couple years ago and truly enjoyed every aspect of her. Brandis Posted July 22, 2009 #12 Share Posted July 22, 2009 Brilliance is also my favorite ship! I love the artwork everywhere, it's like an art museum. Especially the changing painting up in the Viking Crown. At night it looks completely different than during the day. I also like to eat breakfast up at the outside tables of the Seaview Cafe. The cafe is closed for breakfast but when you come out of the Windjammer it's just up the stairs and there is always tables available there. beachnative Posted July 22, 2009 #13 Share Posted July 22, 2009 Gee, I haven't read anything negative as predicted by Maureen. Having just returned from the Brilliance 12-day Med. cruise I must say that someone would have to look long and hard to find something negative to say about this ship. Just as with the Jewel, the Seaview Cafe is excellent, the seating on the aft for Windjammer is excellent, the crew was excellent. We found the food in the main dining room to be good with some items excellent, ie. the beef shoulder. Room service food was very good and handy when returning to the ship after excursions. I'll spring for a "negative": if you are used to sailing the Caribbean and having a relaxing time...forget it in the Med. The cruise was so port intensive, so interesting, so educational that we were exhausted when we returned home:);):)

Aubiecruiser Posted July 22, 2009 #21 Share Posted July 22, 2009 After 4 cruises on the Brilliance, the only negative was the food on our 2004 cruise. Since then we've cruised twice on her, most recently last fall in the Med., and it remains our very favorite ship. Aubie

PMO Posted July 25, 2009 #23 Share Posted July 25, 2009 Did any of you do the cruisetours associated with the Brillance? If so what did you think of it? We are considering it but it is rather pricey and wanted to know if it is worth the extra cost. Thanks for your help.
