Monarch JS Location Question

Recommended Posts

I've already booked but I'm sure I could change the cabin. I took 1580, 10th deck, Junior Suite. If you've ever had a JS on Monarch or Majesty, would you suggest a better location or did I do good enough?

We just had a JS on Monarch 2 weeks ago. We were in 1068. Loved the location as far as ease of access to other parts of the ship. The room also had lots of storage. All of the JS cabins are on deck 10, which is under the pool area and the windjammer. We did hear some noise from people running above us. But nothing that really bothered us. The only other issue might be if someone is really tall. I am 5'9" and had about 2" headroom in the shower. I had to duck down to wash and rinse my hair. My husband said they must have the cleanest ceilings anywhere because it is impossible not to bump into them. It was worth it though just to have the larger shower area. Over all we were very pleased with our JS cabin on Monarch.

We were in 1544 - which was a great location - just down from the elevators almost mid-ship.

We didnt hear anything above us and my wife even comments on how quiet the room when when we closed the sliding door to the balcony.

Just being in a JS, you did fine.

Dont forget, when you get to Port Canaveral, make sure you get in the line for Deck 10. We got "priority boarding" by being on that deck .. .:)

Ooooooh, thanks for all the fast responses. 1580 is a little bit further back than 1544 but closer to 1068 and mid ship. I wonder if less noise is heard from being fore of the forward elevators as opposed to be more to the aft of them and near center???? I never thought of the pool and WJ.

I will definitely look for Deck 10 boarding in Canaveral... Good tip.

The only cabin we heard pool deck noise around 4:30am was while we were in cabin 1058 which we were in twice. After that we just moved slightly forward knowing we only had foot traffic above us and things have been quiet as a mouse. I LOVE being right near the forward elevator on these ships. It is so convenient to the pool & Windjammer, walk past a couple cabins, turn the corner, 1 flight up and your at the entrance to either. :D Enjoy!

Ditto!! We were on Monarch this past weekend. Got to the port later than usual, around 1:30, due some work stuff my BF had to tend to that morning. There must have been 200-300 people in line when we got there but we walked right up to the sign for JS guests and were immediately directed straight to the next available counter agent.

1580 is an EXCELLENT choice. The location is perfect. It is close to the rear elevators and rear stairs, which is convenient for the spa, gym, nightclub, theatre, Schooner Bar and casino. Even though they are near, they are "around the corner", so you are cushioned from any sound.

I like 1584, 1586 and 1588 or the corresponding numbers on the starboard side. Their balconies are fully covered, but the cover doesn't extend out over the balcony. Other balconies have a deep overhang from the Pool Deck above, maybe another 6 feet past the railing, which means no sunlight on the balcony and a darker cabin interior.

Plus, as PrincessScuba said, the aft cabins are very convenient to the aft stairs, which are far less congested than the main ones.:)

Thanks again. I guess we keep 1580.... Geee only 5 Months, 1 week and a day to go.... as you can see, we're not excited... just hooked.

Funny. We were so glad to have the overhang. It was POURING when we sailed, yet we were able to be out on the balcony enjoying ourselves anyway. So I guess there are positives about each. :)

BTW- The noise wasn't really a problem. We only heard it once around 10:30pm. Just by chance that we were in the cabin and someone decided to run across the deck! Other than that we didn't hear a thing.

Uh oh...sounds like our suite guarantee on the Monarch might not be in the best location. We have been assigned a JS, cabin #1062, which appears to be right under the pool (with the large overhang on the balcony). Oh well, I guess we'll have to bring my daughter's clip on fan from camp to use as "white noise" so we don't hear the chair movement in the wee hours of the morning! :-D Anyone know if the port side or the starboard side is better for any reason. We are assigned to the starboard side.

I'd love to make a switch, but we booked a "suite guarantee". Are you saying I should just ask to be put back into the guarantee pool? A JS is now priced at about $150 more per person than what we are paying, so I'm not sure they'd let me select a specific JS cabin...

Thanks all - don't know what I'd do without CC!! :-D
