knots4crewzing Posted August 5, 2009 #255 Share Posted August 5, 2009 Hi radio, Glad you're having a great time. The weather looks perfect. We'll be on the Freedom in January for the first time doing this itinerary and I am enjoying your "live" as I do all your others. Thank you for taking the time to share this with us. BTW, will you be making a video from this trip? I just love them. I can't believe how much Labadee has grown, it's been 5 years WOW! I guess we'll be using the new pier by then:D I also noticed in one of your pics there are bar stools in the pool in the solarium are you allowed to bring your drinks there? Have a wonderful time! Thank You, Liz
99florida Posted August 5, 2009 #256 Share Posted August 5, 2009 Maybe inthe future RCCL will have vacation packages to Labadee. Can you imagine staying there for a week? Just a slice of heaven to me! Doing the Feedom once again in March but the eastern route. Maybe Coco Cay will grow too.

pete78 Posted August 5, 2009 #262 Share Posted August 5, 2009 As someone else said, food menus would be great so we know when to expect lobster, etc..and which nights are just so-so food wise. But in any event, this thread is amazing. Thanks so much for taking us along!
peteukmcr Posted August 5, 2009 #263 Share Posted August 5, 2009 Radio - don't really want to clutter the thread each time I view your report, but have to say, absolutely great, thanks. They are here, but bit difficult to read, so I do have a Word version available if you would like a copy emailing to you. http://travel.webshots.com/album/573636919JQapKF
James MTL Posted August 5, 2009 #265 Share Posted August 5, 2009 Radio, We are sailing FOS, also western, November 15th. I was looking at your Labadee photos and many signs say work will be completed for October 2009 including the pier. Do you think everything being worked on will be done for our cruise? If not, what are those items that still may be "iffy" for our cruise. Thx again for the reports. As you can see from the views and replies to this "big" thread your postings are appreciated by many many people. James

James It was suggested to me that the Bobsled ride will be opening soon, but I have not heard of a timeline for the Cabanas and the new Vendor buildings. There are alot of workers there try to get things done quickly, so maybe things will get completed faster. . . Radio :rolleyes:
Rare Radio Posted August 5, 2009 Author #267 Share Posted August 5, 2009 Hello everyone. . . We have arrived in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. When I got up this morning (around 6AM) we were getting very close to port (12nm). It was still dark, but the sun was trying to get from behind the clouds. We are here now and it looks like we will have another sunny day. The forecast for today is the same as yesterday. . . Hot (92f) and sunny. The ship was just cleared at 8AM, and soon there will be over 4000 passengers getting off. I will not be going on an excursion, but instead will visit Island Village which is only a 2 min walk from the pier. I have heard that Island Village has many new stores and vendors. It has been a couple of years since I have been here, so I want to look around and see what is new. Here something that I wasn’t use to on Freedom of the Seas. The Casino Royale opened at 2PM yesterday. . . Before we left Labadee. I have been to Labadee many times, but I don’t remember the Casino opening while we were in port. Oh well. . Maybe my brain just wasn’t paying attention. We were not scheduled to arrive until 9AM, but we arrive at about 730AM because of a passenger emergency. I hope everything will be OK. . . Here are a few pics from our arrival in port. Tune in later tonight for a recap, and many more pics ! Thanks for tuning in. . . Radio Early morning. . Heading toward Ocho Rios The sun is try to peak out of the Jamaican sky We are almost there The Freedom of the Seas is “backing in” so the starboard side of the ship will be next to the pier. We have arrived ! It will be a short walk to the Terminal .

Rare Radio Posted August 5, 2009 Author #270 Share Posted August 5, 2009 Good Morning Radio, Thanks for your wonderful report, the pictures are amazing!!! We will be in the Freedom in less then three weeks and our fabulous roll call gang was wondering if there is a Martini Bar onboard?? We are all following your thread with great excitement!!:D:D Thanks, Sharonna Yes, they do. But it is called the Champagne Bar on Deck 5. It seems that they specialize in Martini's. Most of the passengers there were enjoying Martinis. Radio :rolleyes:
LisaH Posted August 5, 2009 #271 Share Posted August 5, 2009 Radio, those pics of the early morning going into Ocho Rios remind me of our cruises. The early morning is such a peaceful, serene time on the ship and to hear nothing but the water is just wonderful. We are cruising in March on the Jewel and just anticipating having coffee on the balcony in the morning or walking on deck before most are up is so fun! There is just something about those early mornings. We love getting up early before the masses. :)
spowell Posted August 5, 2009 #272 Share Posted August 5, 2009 Shar we will be on the Freedom of the Seas on August 30th is this the same time you will be arriving? If so, we would love to join the meet and mingle so keep me posted.

You certainly are a very gernerous person to take all this time out of your vacation to do this! We are on the FOS western route in Feb10 so possibly everything should be completed in Labadee.
