kelz66 Posted August 10, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 10, 2009 Is the Graycliff resort and cigar factory walkable from the port area?
riccox Posted August 10, 2009 #2 Share Posted August 10, 2009 Never done it, as Graycliff cigars are out of my price range, but i believe it is about 4 blocks straight inland from the docks on Hill St. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. irwins0001 Posted August 10, 2009 #3 Share Posted August 10, 2009 Yes it is walkable. Get a map off of google. It is uphill on the way there, downhill on the way back. A cab is about $9. They will let you walk into the small factory. You can see rollers at work.
bguppies Posted August 10, 2009 #4 Share Posted August 10, 2009 Easily walkable. (like someone said uphill there, downhill back) A slice of heaven for a cigar smoker. As soon as you walk through the door into the smoking room outside the rolling room, the smell of the fresh rolled cigars will overwhelm you. I always stop by and pick up a couple of the Graycliff's wonderful cigars. (better and cheaper than buying all the fake cubans being hawked on Bay St.) Bill
family cruisers Posted August 10, 2009 #5 Share Posted August 10, 2009 My BF is a cigar smoker and I know he'd love to visit this place. What are prices like at Graycliff? I'm clueless when it comes to this. I'll write down the address w/ directions and take a stroll in that direction and ..... Well look Honey.. a Cigar store :D Easily walkable. kelz66 Posted August 12, 2009 Author #6 Share Posted August 12, 2009 Thanks!!! Probably walk here pick up a few and then head to the fish fry for cold beer and conch fritters by cab. As for pricing of cigars....depending on the size he likes figure 8.00 to 15.00 a cigar. That is why I am picking up a "few"...LOL I'm on vacation and it's a treat. ;)

It has a walking tour and a really nice map with everything laid out. I printed it to take on our trip with us. It has the Graycliff listed on it. bguppies Posted August 15, 2009 #10 Share Posted August 15, 2009 The first time we went, we were doing Zydecocruisers famous walking tour (variation oif Frommer's) and stopped at the Graycliff during the tour. Our first time, it was the middle of September and the hotel was so slow that day, teh girl at the Cigar shop showed us around the inside of the restaurant and hotel and then showed us a back door and told us we could wander the grounds for a bit if we wanted. It was cool seeing the flora and grounds. (reminded me of what you would envision a Hollywood fancy hotel from the 30's or 40's to be like) Bill
