ditom Posted August 14, 2009 #1 Share Posted August 14, 2009 We are thinking about booking a round trip from Ft. Lauderdale next year on Coral Princess. We have been on many Royal Caribbean cruises, but never on Princess. Can we get some input on Plaza deck oceanview rooms from those of you have been on them?? Are the bathrooms adequate? Are the rooms claustrophobic? etc. etc. It seems like a $1000 savings over a catagory AC Mini-suite might be too good to pass up. Thanks in advance for your help. TM Posted August 14, 2009 #2 Share Posted August 14, 2009 We did 2 weeks in a Plaza level oceanview on a B2B to Alaska last month. A bathroom is a bathroom - unless you have a mini-suite they are all the same size - small, but we made it work. The room was a bit small but again we made it work. Plenty of room in the closet to hang clothes. We did move the small round table into the closet. It was just awkward in the room and was in the way. The location was great as you are literally just a few steps away from all the activity in the central part of the ship. We wouldn't hesitate to book a room on the Plaza deck again for a cold weather cruise. For warm weather we'll spend the extra for a balcony. Colo Cruiser Posted August 14, 2009 #3 Share Posted August 14, 2009 Rooms are pretty small but laid out well.

ditom Posted August 14, 2009 Author #5 Share Posted August 14, 2009 TM and Colo Cruiser, I forgot to ask about the noise level. Since the rooms would be just below the casino, does the noise permeate down? Also, is there a bar on the Plaza level? Thanks again, Tom and Diana
Colo Cruiser Posted August 14, 2009 #6 Share Posted August 14, 2009 TM and Colo Cruiser, I forgot to ask about the noise level. Since the rooms would be just below the casino, does the noise permeate down? Also, is there a bar on the Plaza level? Thanks again, Tom and Diana Princess cabins are extremley soundproof, my son had one on the Ruby Plaza deck and no noise whatsoever. When you get in the passagways away from the atrium it is really quiet. Have no worries. ;)
TM Posted August 15, 2009 #7 Share Posted August 15, 2009 We were about 10-12 cabins in from the Plaza atrium and never heard any noise.
Kirsten T Posted August 15, 2009 #8 Share Posted August 15, 2009 The round trip PanCanal cruises are pretty quiet - it's not a party-in' kinda crowd. The cabins on Plaza don't see a lot of traffic. Should be very quiet. If you're looking for a bit of an upgrade, consider the cat BEs at the aft end of Emerald. They're at the low end of the veranda cabin class, but have very large, private verandas with little motion. To avoid any noise from the Universe lounge below (minimal anyway) book forward of the aft staircase. They're the same cabin as the Plazas, but with a veranda. Small bathrooms, but adequate room, adequate closet and storage - pretty comfortable. We love Coral and Island! They're great ships, unless you're looking for late night disco and rock climbing walls (not our style.) :) Cheers, Kirsten
TexEm Posted August 15, 2009 #9 Share Posted August 15, 2009 My husband and brother (both tall, one fairly big) spent 15 days in a Plaza oceanview together going to and from Hawaii on the Island Princess a few years back. They loved the cabin, its size and the location. It was my husband's favorite ship. I know the CB is very different, but one of our last cruises, we were upgraded (from the cheapest interior) to a Plaza oceanview, and again, loved the cabin for it's location (plus we're usually on a much higher deck, and didn't experience as much ship's motion on the Plaza level). Hope that helps.
