davnjnet Posted December 29, 2004 #1 Share Posted December 29, 2004 Will be on the Summit 11 day in march. Anyone have a review for Summits tour of Tortuguero Canals in Cost Rica? Or the Sloth Sanctuary and canoe trip? Hard to decide, would like to experience rain forest and see some wildlife. Any responses appreciated. Thanks

We are just back from the 12/10-12/20 Coral Princess cruise to the Panama Canal and took the Costa Rica's Favorites tour. It combined the arial tram and a cruise on the Tortugero Canals. The cruise portion was the highlight and fantastic! We saw sloths, 4 separate groups of Howler Monkeys, a 10 foot Croc in the water, large Caimans on sandbars, big Iguanas, bats, many different birds, etc. If you want to see wildlife, the canals are the way to go! Check out my posting on the Princess board. The Summit is a fantastic ship and I am sure you will have a great cruise! doone Posted December 30, 2004 #3 Share Posted December 30, 2004 Last March I did the Tortuguero Canal and highly recommend it.
Sekhmet Posted January 4, 2005 #4 Share Posted January 4, 2005 Definitely the Tortuguero Canal for the first time, and take some binoculars with you if possible for the birdlife. The sloth sanctuary is also interesting, but the Canals will give you a much better picture of the Caribbean coast of Costa Rica.
cruislovin Posted January 4, 2005 #5 Share Posted January 4, 2005 Did you book the Canal tour independently yourself or take your ship's tour? Is the best time to go in the morning or in the afternoon? What else is there to do in Costa Rica besides the tours? Beaches? Shopping? Where is the best place to buy coffee?
