Is Celebrity Mercury scheduled for refit in 2010

I am trying to get familiar with the Celebrity Mercury and while checking the deck plans for the ship, I notice that the Website asks whether I am looking at deck plans for "before or after" a certain date in 2010. Does that mean that in the Spring of 2010, the Mercury's deckplans are due to change? Does that mean that a refit is planned??

If that is the case, then the Ship would become more appealing as a choice for our 2010 cruise.

I look forward to your comments.

Usually when they do that it is because there is a change of categories and not necessarily a drydock...

Most of the more 'mature' Celebrity ships will change to a new category / pricing structure in April 2010. Basically they will re-price the 'better' Veranda, Concierge Class, and Sky Suite cabins into a higher priced category. For example, the 'sweet 16' verandas on the Mille, Connie, Infinity, and Summit. The aft Concierge Class cabins. The four awesome Concierge Class cabins up on the Sky Deck on Mercury...etc.

Just another way for Celebrity to make more revenue. :)

Love those cabins on the sky deck, we had one when the ship first came out before they had CC cabins, they were a cat 2 then...

Can you advise which room numbers those concierge rooms are on sky deck please, many thanks! We are just in the process of room choosing now!

I believe they are: 1200, 1201, 1240, and 1241. The balconies on this deck are very nice :)

Yes, those are the numbers with the first preference being 1200 or 1201 but they all have huge balconies and the cabins are convienent to everything. They go very fast so if one of them is available grab it..

I am fortunate enough to have one of these cabins for the 12/12 cruise out of Baltimore. 3 months and change to go... Can't wait! :D

Enjoy it, besides the great veranda, I always like the location as it was a quick trip to buffet and pool area and a short walk to back and down elevator to MDR....

Somewhere I recall reading that Mercury will be phased out within the next year or so. Is this so?

She has itineraries listed through April 2011.:) So in the next year?

She is sailing every month:D:)and nothing official has ever been

announced, released or anything else.

But there is no sailing that I can find from April 18th until May 5th. Anyone know what's happening then?

Hi Dee:)....no, nobody knows....I am guessing the itineraries

are not released for beyond that time right now and/or they have

not decided what she is going to be doing after that date.

When I say nobody knows, I mean nobody on here knows. The

people in Miami HQ might know but no news has come out from

there.

There is a repositioning cruise on April 19th which will be probably be at least two weeks. It may be sold out or just taken off the web site for some reason. I found this in the roll calls where there is an active roll call for April 19, 2010.

It appears the reason it is missing, X is in the process of recategorizing the cabins. There will now be a Cat 3 OV and Cat 9A & 9B Inside. These changes go into effect on the April 19 sailing

Thanks for the info! I was wondering about that cruise as we would like to spend a few days in New Orleans and Charleston before cruising back to the West Coast via the Panama Canal. :) Have any ideas when it will be back on Celebrity's website? Thanks in advance.
