Casino takes large US bills?

At the casino you can always buy 100 dollars worth of chips at a table, and than go to the cage and cash them in. I'm sure they will give you whatever you want in exchange. I don't know about the purser's desk.

Never had any problem. I found it really convenient to change a couple of 100's in the casino just so I had lots of 5's and 1's for tips when the next day was in a port. Nobody cares - they have to have lots of small bills, since most people put 100's and 20's into the slots and cash out 5's and 1's ... ;-)

Most of the ship casino cashiers will even let you use your ship board account for cash - up to $500 or so (some are higher) per day. Since the US has $100 as the only high-denomination bill, you either need to carry only 100's or a BIG wallet. Back in the old days, before they let you add the tips to your ship-board account, you had to have 150-200 in cash to distribute at the end of the cruise. Add that to cash you needed for the ports, cabfare, lunch, etc, you had to carry quite a wad if you were limited to 20's.

Good luck.

I am back from my cruise now. I had no problem giving the cashier $100 bills to exchange for $5 bills. I have learned it lasts longer using the 5's instead of 20's. I had one night where I played a 2cent machine that had multi-lines with 7's and fruits and a double symbol. I got a few good spins so I started playing max bet-90 per spin($1.80 each). It was "loose" enough that I won $200. Then I cashed out and put in a $5 and played max a few spins-won $50. Then I cashed out!! On the same night I played a nickel machine that had jewelry boxes. I won 2000 nickels on that one and they hand paid me in cash. I was not even playing max on that one. Good luck everybody!!!
