  1. @Luckynanaand @Sunshine3601 I can understand the weather getting you down. Have felt that way a few times this summer with the bouts of relentless rain. Hope the sun shines for you soon.
  2. Cant post without a bird or two photo. After a week of rain, it was lovely that the morning fog cleared and the sun actually came out in the late afternoon. Operated by the National Trust, Everglades with it’s beautiful grounds & bush valley views is well worth a visit if you are ever in Sydney and plan a trip to The Blue Mountains.
  3. The moderne-style house was built in 1935-6. The volunteer at the entrance who gave us a map of the grounds after we paid the $15pp entrance fee, told us it was Art Deco and we must have a look at the bathrooms especially the shower as the industrialist had it built to cater for his height. My son is 6’2’. I think he would appreciate the location of the shower head…
  4. There is a gallery onsite and the current exhibition is by five local textile artists taking inspiration from the Blue Mountains and the gardens & bush of Everglades.
  5. In 1932 a Belgium industrialist purchased a section of overgrown orchard and bush in Leura with fabulous views over Jamison Valley. The following year, he commissioned Danish born landscape designer Paul Sorensen to create a garden at his weekender.
  6. After scoffing our scones & tea, we continued walking to our destination - Everglades Historic House and Gardens. Thirteen Acres of gardens and native bush land. Beautiful lookout to Jamison Valley and a grotto pool.
  7. Good morning, had a very nice day trip today to the Leura in the Blue Mountains. It’s a lovely little village with a Main Street of shops & cafes. There are walks and lookouts nearby and plenty of autumn colour right now. walking from the train station, this tearoom/museum caught our eye. Whilst waiting for the delish fresh scones, jam and cream to be served, had a good look at the many many teapots on display.
  8. It’s been great weather for ducks this week in Sydney ☔️@h20skibum & @Bailey & Sophie love your cute duck & ducklings photos. @grapau27 Graham, don’t know how you and Pauline stay so trim with those portions of delish pizza. It’s been mentioned before but love Pauline’s new hairstyle. @Ozark_Kid those earrings are great. Talented DD.
  9. I actually did 😂 amazing the wide range of topics that have been covered since Dani started this thread…but it’s the sense of community, care and support that makes it special.
  10. @lenquixote66 pleased to hear your positive news. If it prevents your falls & gives you more mobility that will be wonderful.
  11. Had to share this. My DD did not join us today (she was at a country music festival for the weekend). At the end of our walk and after our picnic at the same spot, we were walking back to our car, when three police rescue cars came racing down the dirt road to the start of the walk. DS sent the video of the police cars to DD with no context. Her first thought was omg mum has fallen off a cliff… Obviously not but walkers on the track after us heard screams and shouts and worried someone had fallen and was in distress, they called the police. Nothing in the news tonight or on the socials so assume it was a false alarm thankfully.
  12. Just looked at the solo price for balcony cabin for first cruise on the 29th. $1500.00. Missed the boat on the prices for that one. I know they were cheaper when cruising was first announced to be returning here.
  13. We had a lovely picnic lunch, then spent the afternoon wandering Wildwood Garden in Bilpin and enjoying scones with jam & cream & tea at their onsite cafe overlooking the gardens.
  14. My request for Mother’s Day was a day trip to The Blue Mountains. I let DH pick what we did and he chose well. It is a beautiful sunny day and the autumn colours were lovely on our drive up. Started the day with the Mount Banks via ridge walk. Views were stunning.
  15. The Cassowary. Can be seen in Far North Queensland. Have very sharp talons so tourists are warned to keep their distance.
  16. Passed by the florist late this afternoon. Huge queue for flowers for Mother’s Day tomorrow. Must be their busiest day after Valentines Day. My DH’s mother passed when he was 15 (melanoma) and my mum passed when I was 40 (breast cancer) and both our grandmothers are long gone so tomorrow is just for me. We are driving up to the Blue Mountains to do some walks etc. Weather will be brrrr but sunny. Hope to get some nice photos which will make a change from my usual Bridge/Opera House/Harbour photos.
