  1. Looking forward to seeing the footage of the Jubilee celebrations for the Queen this week. A couple of years ago, I dragged my daughter to the Royal Mews in London. I took a photo of every single Royal carriage on display much to my daughter’s amusement but my favourite was the Gold State Coach. I was delighted to read yesterday that it is to the featured in this week’s pageant parade in London. It hasn’t been seen actively in public for 20 years.
  2. My daughter heads overseas soon. Last night she gave me a very early birthday present (no birthday wishes please my bday is not for 2 months). She gave me two photo books with photos from our mother &daughter trips to Uluru & then to Kakadu . Very thoughtful and quite a few of the photos I hadn’t seen before. We haven’t done photo books in our family before so it was special. I then dragged out my old photo albums to show the “kids” what my friend and I did in Hawaii when I was their age. My daughter was delighted as she wants to recreate a couple of the same photos of her in the same location and them do a side by side post. They are going to Waikiki on Oahu @sea2shiningsea
  3. Lovely photos of Hawaii. My “kids” are spending 5 days there in August. First time holidaying together by themselves and first visit to Hawaii.
  4. Seen some fabulous photos from the Whale watch cruises in Sydney this week. Wouldn’t want to be doing it today - very gusty here today. I love those cruises don’t get seasick but vertigo rules it out for me this season. Also saw amazing drone footage of three swimmers early yesterday morning swimming off Bondi Beach as two whales passed them by
  5. Yay! Exciting that you are onboard. Is if it’s as gusty as it is in our part of Sydney, you might be in for a bumpy ride through the heads.
  6. That’s a really nice view. Vivid should be looking good from there now. Thanks for doing a live review.
  7. My initial choice for our wedding reception was Curzon Hall. Beautiful venue. But because mum was paying, she talked me into having the wedding reception on Sydney Harbour for the English relatives. It was a good decision. We had the ceremony at a lovely church in Manly, then drove around in vintage white jaguars to Taronga Zoo Wharf and boarded a private charter vessel for our wedding reception. We had a beautiful day.
  8. First day of Winter here on Wednesday. First snowfall predicted in The Blue Mountains on Tuesday. That is the day that first cruise in over 2 years is departing Sydney. Doubt that those onboard will care as they will be too excited. it will be a bit chilly on the outside deck as it sails out of the harbour (Sydney forecast is 15C and windy).
  9. There is hope. My brother injured himself surfing, ended up in hospital being tended to by a gorgeous red-headed nurse who is now his wife. Rather painful way to find the love of your life though.
  10. My daughter tells me she wants to be married by Elvis in Vegas…think I should encourage her given your experience.
  11. We are going to a wedding next year. The bride is from a large Lebanese family and the groom is Greek. The mother of the bride was relieved to tell me last week that the initial guest list of 300 has been whittled down to a firm 190 as the new mother-in-law is conscious of expenditure which was goods news for the father of the bride.
  12. That would have been a lovely surprise in 2009. It’s a shame for me you are departing at 4pm (I was hoping for 6) as I doubt I will make it in time even if I aim to go to Milsons Point to watch you pass under the bridge. Went to Vivid last night. The sails on the Opera House are stunning this year. Recommend you watch from the boardwalk outside the Park Hyatt Hotel. Hardly anyone there compared to the crowds on approach to the Opera House.
  13. @Sea Dog your pups are adorable. The chewing stage is definitely a challenge though…. We had a period where we couldn’t put sheets or towels on the washing line, shoes and books had to moved up high , tissue boxes and the dog bed would become a sea of fluff and nibbles would be taken out of the sofa and wooden coffee table.
  14. Thinking of going to Circular Quay and watching her depart on Tuesday. For those booked, what time is your sail away? Be lovely sailing out from OPT with Vivid on.
