  1. I am not 100% but I suspect, and would not be surprised, that the files they offer for phone downloading are not the same as what they would give you on a USB stick. They probably shrink them considerably for easy distribution over the ship’s network. I can only hope that’s the case, anyway. They clearly do have the full resolution files available for them to make prints of.
  2. Very good question. I say, don’t ask for permission ask for forgiveness
  3. That effect is absolutely nauseating whenever I have the misfortune of seeing it enabled on a television in a public place. If Princess wants to maintain the image of a higher-end cruise line, they certainly shouldn’t be enabling a television feature which only serves to signal that someone has a complete lack of taste or culture. Absolute Philistines.
  4. Not to my knowledge. It’s a Panama Canal crossing, LA to Miami
  5. It is a little strange that you pay more and get less. On a 15 night we only got 2. I think it should be equivalent with the number of formal nights. If a 15 day is long enough for 3 formal nights then it should be long enough for 3 specialty dining reservations as well.
  6. Aside from horribly long loading times, the app also attempted to charge us for dining reservations at Sabatini’s whereas previously it would show it correctly as being free. We are supposed to get 2 specialty dining reservations each with the Princess Premier package.
  7. I am not an IT professional, but Princess presumably employs one. There should be a way to aggregate satellite connections or some other solution to better serve their passengers. Trying to excuse 1mbps in 2024 is kinda crazy to me, that speed simply isn’t up to meet the demands of the modern internet. I have 1gbps fiber at home. Certainly there has to be some sort of middle ground.
  8. I checked this today and it is as you’ve described. Just that one page is a great example of their unclear/mixed messaging.
  9. Different people may identify with the 80’s in very different ways. For some, their memory of the 80’s might be hearing Madonna songs in a nightclub. For others it might be Saturday morning cartoons and Super Mario Brothers on the Nintendo. For the average Princess Cruise passenger, their memory of the 80’s may be of the time when they finally became eligible to collect social security
  10. For whatever it’s worth, Carnival used to have matches available at pretty much any of the bars, all you had to do was ask - not sure if this is the case now, but in fairly recent history it was never a problem.
  11. Where exactly is this info found? In the deck plan? the deck plan for the Emerald on Princess.com still clearly shows “Speakeasy Cigar Lounge” on deck 6 Elsewhere on cruise critic, people say the cigar lounge on Emerald has been replaced. the mixed messaging and lack of clarity around what is being offered on this ship SUCKS
  12. Yikes, that is supremely disappointing. Oh well. I don’t want to be inconsiderate to others but I genuinely don’t know where would be the most appropriate place to smoke cigars on the ship, and the whole cigar lounge “vibe” is really part of the whole thing anyway. I practically only ever smoke on vacations. I would’ve liked a nice place to unwind, and maybe make my way through the cognac menu. Princess doesn’t seem to be much of a party ship like I’m accustomed to, and now I don’t have the solitude I was hoping for in lieu of that either. Talk about a bummer!
  13. Thanks, so they should still be available in the cigar lounge if the cigar lounge still actually exists on that particular ship? Is there still a lounge on the Emerald?
  14. Perhaps a stupid question, but do they provide a lighter in the cigar lounge of any sort? Or at least matchbooks you can pick up there, or at the various bars?
  15. Great idea. I will start working through that 15 drink limit the minute I walk onto the ship
  16. I have a question about the cruise ship excursions to stingray city - specifically, from Princess, though I’m sure they’re more or less the same regardless of which cruise line you’re on. I believe you are typically taken out with a boat to the “stingray city”, and get off this boat to step into the water, right? What happens to your belongings while you’re off this boat? Are they locked up in any way? or otherwise kept safe?
  17. Sorry I don’t have more information about getting the photos - if I had to guess, they probably delete them soon after each tour. But I am curious about this particular excursion and am hoping you may be able to clear this up for me. On the excursion description page, Princess lists both “Stingray City & Sandbar” & “Snorkeling & Diving” as highlights. What was the extent of the “snorkeling & diving”? Was it just getting in the water with the stingrays, or does this excursion also take you elsewhere in the water where you can see fish, coral reef, etc
  18. For the sake of the scientific method, I hope to thoroughly peer review your findings soon
  19. I have been studying the bar menu with intent. The Walker gold label reserve and Chivas 18 year are covered in the premier package, though I’m not sure which bars on the ship will actually have it. I’m sure it should be simple to become acquainted with those locations once you are onboard. And if not… there is always OceanNow delivery. As mentioned upthread, blue label is $30, you can get it but as with any drink above $20 you will have to pay the difference.
  20. As soon as I complained about it, everything came back. That’s usually what it takes. Never mind!
  21. In the new app, it seems my upcoming trip has disappeared, and when I try to re-add the booking number it just hangs indefinitely. The app had all my info just fine the other day, and it still appears as if I am logged into my account - my “journey” is just gone. just me or is this a common issue?
  22. These are not exactly the titillating tidbits I was hoping for on my first voyage with Princess, but I remain hopeful.
  23. You “can” make a large print of anything, but “can” and “should” are two very different things. Different people can also have vastly different standards. Taste is subjective, but photos in the 1-2mb range are objectively small, particularly for something that is professionally taken and paid for.
  24. Shame they only give small JPEGs. I would never pay for them if that were the case. I will only be retrieving them because they are included with the premiere package. So we go on the last night and they give us a flash drive or do I have to bring one with me? I have no interest in downloading these photos to my phone.
  25. I have premiere, I would like to try these casual restaurants but not in place of dinner. Shame they aren’t open for lunch. I guess I’ll just have to get dinner 1 and dinner 2.
