  1. hello,

has anyone recently done the chef table on allure. I would love your feedback and/or photos

    thanks a bunch

I have done it twice, but it was a few years ago.

Amazing time on both accounts. The second time we were surprised as we ending up dining wth Adam Goldstein and 7 of his family members. That was a great time with really good conversation.

Both times around the menu almost entirely seafood based. The second time my wife took in a few substitutes. The Black Cod was the best fish I've ever eaten.

The sommelier was really good at manipulating your taste buds. His pairings were bang on.

The first time around, we received the RC cook book which we had signed by the Chef. The second time around we were given that Decanter that all their restaurants now use. We use that all the time and I've probably cooked half the meals from the book.

What else would you like to know?

Both times, we found the experience very much worth the cost. My wife insists we do it every cruise now. We make that our formal night, as we rarely go to the MDR.

  2. I wonder what you will say to your son or daughter when they say "I only cheated once a day". How will this be handled as they are emulating you?

So your kids must create unnecessary guilt trips and lay judgement on people you don't know? Or maybe they are just shaking their heads in disgust as well.

Seriously, w t f.... Comments like these is the basis of cyber bullying and are completely out of line.

  3. This is not personal but I always laugh when the "drink police" come into these threads and keep harping the same old story. I laugh because the majority of cruisers bring on their own water, soda or whatever -including said police.

Both are against the rules and yet I never see the "non-alcoholic drink police" around. It still takes money away form RC.

Both of these rules will continue to be broken until changes are made or are better enforced but that's on royal not us and, in until that time, people will do what they will do.

Do I care if someone shares a package, not one bit. Just like I don't care if someone brings 2 cases of bottled water on board. Either way, there is consequences if RC starts enforcing, as long as those people realize what those consequences are then that's all that matters.

    Cheers.

  4. Question for the Nexus folks.

I have my card, I have my flight booked. Its out of the US. I know I can cross the boarder using the card, its very easy. My question is about using it at the airports. How do I do that? It needs to be in my flight information some where? Or do I need to apply my number some where else? I'm looking at avoiding t he long lines at security especially in Orlando.

Walk me through this, its our first time using it at the airport.

When you get your boarding pass, make sure you let them know about your nexus card and they will add the TSA imprint on it. Also, go to your booking and make sure your Nexus card # is added to the booking. It makes the travel a lot easier.

Every airline has an area to add you card #.

  5. Don't forget, when you get onboard, you can refuse the automatic tipping and get the envelopes like before. I've done it plenty. I prefer the personal touch and we really don't go to the MDR anymore, so I prefer to tip those whom I've dealt with.

  6. I literally did this last week. We had purchased a select and a replenish package for my wife. She changed her mind and didn't want it anymore and I decided I wanted the premium. I just called in and they had no problem cancelling the bookings and then letting me rebook my package on my own.

You don't have to do it on the boat.

  7. I just got back from Liberty of the Seas 7 days ago. Just a few observations/comments:

They are phasing out the crappy electronic tables (from a casino employee). They no longer have them onboard the Liberty, all tournaments were live dealers.

The only tournaments onboard all week were the RPT qualifiers and final. There were cash games every nights, but I didn't play so I'm not sure of the blinds. Judging from the chip stacks I saw walking by, I'd guess $1/$2 or $1/$3.

    The RPT buy in was $100 with a $50 add-on and $100 re-buys.

I won the tournament for the week (with only 1 buy-in!). The cruise this year is on the Allure on Dec 11, 2016. We had enough entries that they actually gave the cruise package to the top 2 finishers, and paid the next 3 (if I remember it was $470 for 3rd, $280 for 4th, and $185 for 5th). The package includes the 7 Night Cruise for 2 in an Oceanview or Boardwalk Balcony, and your entry to the $100,000 Tournament Championship onboard (entry is $1,000 if you were to want to just buy-in). Additionally, you can use the amount of the free room toward an upgraded room.

If anyone has any other questions feel free to ask!

Thank you, thank you, thank you, for this! I've been asking for months about live dealers and your the first to confirm. Now I can sit back and relax, I pretty much refuse to use the etables. One question, did they actually bring poker tables on board? Or are they using other tables to fill in....

  8. We did a game of "golf" on Allure. 18 holes, various pars. Each shot was a sip. Each hole had a different drink. The par 3, 15th hole in Vintages was interesting, as was the "eagle" shot of fireball on the 9th!

It was done on a sea day/night and we incorporated dinner and snacks throughout.

    Good times!
