  1. I use a belkin 3 strip with 2 usb charger built in. All the time on the ship and never have a problem. Using it right now on the Grandeur.

This! Have had one of the for my last 4 cruises. I never even knew they were illegal.

Also, I'm guilty of bringing the iron aboard, not sure if it's how I pack it but I've brought it since my first cruise in 05. It's always on top, plain view, if opened.

  2. Like a few others, I prefer the personal approach. Thus the staff are tipped appropriately. They still give the envelopes and the breakdowns, so why not use it. Plus, I don't think tipping is awkward, if anything, I take great satisfaction in tipping people who make my life easier. I think all but one time, I gave more then the recommended amounts - so good on those crew members, they did great.

The only time we didn't over tip was because we ate only once in the MDR - the first night. We still tipped him but not as per usual.

IMO, everyone has their own way of doing things, I was in the service industry for years and prefer the personal approach. To each their own.

  3. This sale was great, we cancelled our reso with our usual TA and went with another company.

This company's website was incorrect about the reduction, apparently it was entered in wrong and ended up doubling the savings. We ended up saving $700 for the two of us, instead of $350.

Within an hour after we booked, the website was fixed, lol.

  4. We had this happen to us on our first cruise with Royal, in 05. A port strike in Barcelona caused an 18 hour delay and we missed our flights back to NA.

Royal ended up compensating for our full flights back, all expenses from off the boat to home and $500 certificates for each of us. We were never promised any of this but we did receive it all within a month after our cruise. We did have to use them within a year though, although we did call them and got them extended for another year.

  5. I have read if you put your wine in plastic bottles in you checked luggage, the scanner will not detect them. Is this true? Just curious, I do not really drink enough to make it worthwhile.

No. They detect the liquid. You can see it on the scanners. Alcohol is orange!

Saw this mom and 20yr old daughters come on board with a 24pack of water. Guess the mom had replaced 6 bottles with vodka. After going through the scanner, they knew exactly what bottles to pull.

The girls were giving it to the mom afterwards, pretty funny scene.

  6. Last March I was on the Epic. There are reasonable pros and cons with NCL just as there is with RCI.

I did like being able to order pub food in the pub. This was my fav place to eat.

Loved Cirque but BMG was just ok.

Loved eating at the Sushi Bar. Thought the buffet was just ok. Never went to any MDR's

Ice bar is a waste of time and money.

The "white party" was great. It's a great theme and I hardly saw anyone not dressed in white.

Casino has an actual poker table. You won't believe how much of big thing this is for me.

The staff was very friendly and easy to chat with. Although one server was talking rude to me, the bar manager saw this and quickly spoke to her and then apologized to me. Which was cool and surprising, as I has sluffed it off.

My real only complaint was the room layout. First we had a mini suite, which is basically a balcony On RCI. But the layout was terrible.

Overall, a really good time. BUT, lol, I was missing the Allure the entire time! Fortunately, the complimentary UBP helped me through my time of need!
