Hi,
I have just heard from my travel agent that from 1 April the per person deposit for all grades of cabin is now 20% Has anyone else heard about this change?
I have looked on Oceania's web site and it still states £500pp for lower grade cabins and 20% for the higher grades
Thanks for any advice

Hi,
Is anyone else getting daily notification emails for their forthcoming cc connections party on a cruise? I tweeted about the issue and celebrity tweeted back to modify my notification settings with cruises critic. I am not sure where the setting is tbh.
Many thanks

Which is about 440 pounds more than it is showing for a balcony guarantee in the US!!
I do get the feeling we are being 'had' in the UK sometimes

50 dollars each, on our last cruise in Oct on Eclipse they discounted to 35 dollars, we are also on the Norway cruise, 5 weeks and counting xxxx

I wish I was on that cruise with you both xx

A particularly annoying issue in our case . We are in the UK and early booked a 14 day Baltic cruise sailing this July in an Inside grade cabin - so no perks included or applicable . As we don't drink this is no big deal for us . The price of our cabin has now been reduced BY CELEBRITY on their website by 600 dollars , approx. £400 . We have contacted Celebrity and asked them for either a refund or obc to the value of the difference . Celebrity's booking terms and conditions state that if THEY , CELEBRITY . reduce your same grade cabin price prior to final payment date they will refund the difference . NOT SO !
Despite this information being clearly stated on both their UK website and in their UK / Europe brochure they will only honour this promise to either US or Canadian bookings . And if you try and claim it online via their claim form a drop down box appears requesting country of origin and only accepts US or Canada !
Despite a raft of e-mails to Celebrity Public Relations they refuse to budge , use every excuse in the book and just say ' Tough ' .
In all honesty it the principle at stake here not the money . Why should we in the UK be penalized and not subject to the same booking terms and conditions for the same cruise as our US fellow cruisers ?
Totally agree. We get high prices and none of the flexibility. We loose deposits if cancelling / moving cruises as well. Seems very unfair to me

Hi,
It still shows over £1500pp on the UK site :s

Hi. Which date have you booked?
-
I have also noticed that the booking on board offer that gave you one of the 123 offers no longer exists.
I was on eclipse in November and wanted to book summer 2017 from the UK. I was told the booking on board perk of being able to have a free drinks package no longer existed. As a result I have nothing booked for 2017 and will be looking at both Celebrity and the opposition for the best offers. Seems silly that Celebrity have lost out to guaranteed future bookings by doing this.
-
I am hoping we get some sort of UK 2017 offer after the end of February. At present 2017 prices are far higher than 2016 with no drinks offered, It is also a shame that almost every cruise is going to the Baltic too. I am sure this will impact on repeat ex-UK customers. Fingers crossed.
-
Not sure why anyone would being wine onboard unless they want a specific wine. You really have to try hard to book a Celebrity cruise WITHOUT the free Beverage Package AND Prepaid Gratuities and/or OBC!
Sadly it is impossible to get any offers on Eclipse UK cruises in 2017, so far!
I am hoping an offer comes along though. Ironically the 2017 prices are higher than those for 2016 that include the drinks package and obc.

We are Elite on X, in our mid sixties and have sailed on most of the main stream lines. In planning a 14 day to Europe we see QE and Queen Victoria have prices considerably better than Celebrity.
My wife is hesitant to sail on either of the cunards's. Too stuffy, too many nouveau rich people who flaunt their money? The two class system makes her nervous also.
Any experiences too share? Please!
I sail on both and enjoy both equally. Celebrity now has the 2 class system so there is no difference there.
Celebrity has a better loyalty club but Cunard fares tend to be a little more sensible. Plus they treat you like adults and allow you to take drinks onboard at both the embarkation and ports visited.
As far as service is concerned both are pretty similar in my experience. I feel Cunard generally make a better job of on-board entertainment / lectures. I have never had any problems with the guests on either line to be honest.

If they were really considered "guests", the wine that they brought onboard would not be limited.
And if the drinks prices were anywhere near a sensible price nobody would want to :s I can buy a bottle of wine in a bar at home for the same price as a glass on the ship. It just does not make sense.
-
I have enjoyed the experience several times. I imagine if the captain / officers will be hosting tables around the ship in different restaurants the experience will be even better. It is all part of modernisation I guess

It works just as well as the Celebrity website.......................!

No it's not fair at all. I hear various reasons about trading laws in the UK etc, but nothing would stop a cruise lime giving you a credit for the deposit, or discount equalling that amount off another cruise, rather then refunding it.

Hi,
I am sure the Celebrity marketing team think the public are all a little stupid. The latest second person travels for half price promotion is actually more expensive overall for two passengers than prior to the promotion. All they have done is vastly increase the per person fare for the first passenger on the booking to make up for the second person travelling 'half price'.
I have just checked my cruise for July this year (Eclipse Europe) which was £1600pp when we booked (with the classic drinks package included) and is now is £2500 for the first passenger and £1250 for the second. A cost of £3200 pre promotion for 2 people verses £3750 now.
Either way I cannot wait for my cruise, I just find Celebrity's marketing promotions a little insulting to the intelligence of the customer.

I love it the way it is although remain jealous of those Diamond level passengers on Royal Caribbean who get the Diamond Lounge and 3 free drinks on their account every day.
-
I was on the 8/22/15 Fjords cruise on Eclipse and that's exactly what they had: one Activities Mgr (Martijn?), and one other fun, lively & overworked Activities staff member. Period.
It was the same on Eclipse 3 weeks ago. The Cruise Director, Activity Manager (Maartin) and one other.
Cheers

Formal / Evening chique - 8.30pm (early diners) and 10.30pm (late diners)
Hope this helps

We will be sailing the Eclipse 3 April 2016 and looking forward to the Cruise and the first time sailing the Eclipse. I consider reviews only an opinion. Positive or negative.
Hi,
I was on Eclipse 29 November Caribbean cruise and the ship was as good as ever. We had a great time. I personally do not bother with the speciality restaurants now, after having a poor experience in Tuscan Grill on this cruise. I found the main restaurant, food and service to be great. Loved it :)
-
I would imagine things will be back to "usual" when the regular cruising season begins in January with the 2 week Eclipse cruises. It sounds like Celebrity wanted to shake things up for the short 5 day cruise to capture a young audience of first time cruisers.
It was exactly the same on the 29 Nov 14 night cruise too [emoji3]

For those of you who are in the MDR on Deck 3? There is now only 1 entrance on the right side since the new Suite Dining room was finished. For those who have tables in the MDR on the left side of the MDR, you have to weave between tables, passengers and waiters to get to your table. This could be very hard for those who have a walking disability. They really need to make some type of an aisle to get to the left side of the MDR.
It seems mad that they didnt build the suite dining room on Deck 4 where there are far less people trying to enter the restaurant.
-
Sadly I don't have a photo of the Tuscan menu with the extra costs for the antipasti. It was around $14 though which for something that was free until recently seemed bad.
I personally think its so sad that you have to 'haggle' to get a decent price at the speciality restaurants. If they were more sensibly priced then they would be fully booked. All that discounting does is annoy those paying more / or that planned ahead.
