  1. As well as the GCs on deck 15, and of course GAs which are midship on decks 11 and 12, either of which would be an acceptable location. Does anyone know if all the adapted cabins with right handed bathroom set up have the pole in the cabin. All our cruises on Iona have been in left handed set up bathroom cabins, and none of those had a pole.
  2. I just opened a Nationwide flex plus account and the worldwide annual insurance is only 10% of what Free Spirit quoted, while Staysure would not cover us. It really is remarkably cheap for full worldwide cover including USA and Caribbean, and cruise cover with missed ports. PS and I cannot imagine our medical conditions will be much different to yours.
  3. That all sounds eminently sensible, in fact we are thinking of using a saver fare for our next booking. Ours will be on Iona where the adapted cabins in a specific grade are all on the same deck, so that limits the risk of finding yourself in an unsuitable location.
  4. I also have to cut up most meat dishes for my wife, however maybe she is more thick skinned than yours, but this does not concern her, and in fact we have never noticed any table companions taking exception to this. Personally I find that it is easier for me to do this when sitting next to her on a shared 6 or 8 top, than it is when seated opposite her on a 2 top, and we often now ask the waiter to cut up her meat, which they always seem more than willing to do.
  5. From my memory of comparative prices, there was no noticeable increase in cruise fares at the time this change was implemented. However my understanding of the change for the hotel staff was is that they were offered amended enhanced contracts to compensate for the change, but they did maintain a bonus system based on the rating given in the post cruise questionnaire. But these no longer seem to exist, so I guess any bonus is now based on their managers assessment, which is very similar to many other salaried staff.
  6. I don't think I was around at either of those points.
  7. Will that be £120 pw, pm or pa?
  8. Sounds as though that was a story created by a canny waiter to help increase his tips.
  9. Our council require you to register your car number to use the rubbish collection site, and uses number plate recognition to check you're registered.
  10. Strange that, when I would have thought that garden waste was virtually guaranteed to provide a profit when it is successfully turned into good quality peat free compost.
  11. It might be efficient, but where do you put empty tins and cans, clean aluminium foil containers and empty aerosols?
  12. As others have said, officers and entertainment staff have always used the buffet, we have seen them on all the ships we have been on over the last 20 years. They normally use the aft end of the buffet, furthest from the severies, which is generally empty of passengers.
  13. Yes P&O's responses to the app issues does sort of remind me of the swamp draining story, with the restaurant staff frantically dodging alligators.
  14. To be fair to the op, they did not blame P&O for their illness, but by calling it food poisoning it did sort of imply that it was caused by something they ate, which in fairness it might have been, even if it was an allergic reaction. I do think though that we have battered this fishy story to death, and should now leave it to RIP.
  15. Different ship but still accessible question, Selbourne did I understand correctly that you had a de-luxe accessible balcony cabin on Iona, I cannot see any on the deck plans can you advise the cabin number please.
  16. On our Sky Princess cruise only the entertainment staff were dressed up, I saw no one amongst the passengers, so I predict it will die once the White and Gold night party night finishes its run.
  17. I do agree that returning from the Caribbean is not as enjoyable as heading there, but I am hoping that Iona's more southerly route via Tenerife will mean that the weather will be better than via the Azores.
  18. Don't get me wrong, I also like port days, but I can accept a couple less port days, especially when the price is so competitive.
  19. Some of us oldies do enjoy relaxing sea days though Selbourne.
  20. Its cancelled by default if you dont pay.
  21. But symptoms are similar to Noro, which is very infectious, so should be reported.
  22. Strangely Celebrity used to have someone from customer services routinely reading their forum, and responding to some of the posts. And their CD on Eclipse did always comment on their CC meet and greet get togethers how important this was for them to know what their regular cruisers were thinking.
  23. We have only been on one P&O Caribbean fly cruise, and that was when Arcadia was the biggest ship in the fleet. However we did not feel to be hanging about, we sunbathed in the morning, had a leisurely lunch and by mid afternoon our transfer to the airport was called. It all felt quite civilised.
