  1. Here's something to futher your addiction: Sign up for their email ... in addition to birthday coupons, they often send coupons for something like $10 off a $50 purchase on up to, if I remember correctly, $40 off $100. And they always have drastically reduced stuff in the back of the store.

I, too, love the way the store is designed by color. I can go to exactly the color scheme I'm looking for and always find something that works perfectly with the outfit I'm trying to accessorize.

WOW, thanks for the info, I didn't know about that, wonder why the salesgirl didn't ask?? Can I sign up on their website?

I also like that everything is by color, makes it so easy to find accessories.

  2. I love Charming Charlies as well for fun accessories. I wore alot of bling from them on my cruise in September for the formal nites and I didn't miss my "real" jewelry at all. They have the cutest evening bags too!

I didn't know anything about that store until I mentioned it to one of my sister's who lives in Palm Bch. so she took us there when I went to visit then found out they were in Tampa. :D I had looked EVERY WHERE for a "pink/fusha"(sp?) purse & finally found it at Charming for $6.99 ! :) Goes perfect with the gown. Love it.

  3. Hi Sherri, Loved all your pictures. So glad you had a nice time. I too, loved Drew's bow ties! ;)

I'm going to try to find a Emerald Green one for my DH to wear on our St. Paddy's Day cruise as I'll be wearing the "green" gown that Marie sent to me. Now getting ready for our cruise on Nov. 30th. & so excited.

Take care & hope you'll be feeling better soon. :)

  4. Thanks Marie,

I love that green dress, too. Unfortunately, it isn't in my closet.

I've had mine for years, bought it for my best friend's wedding.

It's slightly more teal colored, but not a dark teal.

It's made of a heavy jersey, very plain in the front, accented with the princess seams and has a nice sweetheart neckline. It's kind of a loose fit, which I figured might be useful the last formal night of a 13-day cruise. (I might have to have two desserts on certain nights...)

The plain-ness of the front is rescued by the lovely lace on the back. And it looks great with that blingy necklace to dress it up.

Pulled out the necklace to clean it, and noticed a mark. Guess I had never really looked before. Turns out, it's not a Juliana, it's a Schiaparelli.

This one is similar but mine has the mother of pearl leaves, too:

cc77c339bacb3082fb13e4edd915e85f.jpgHow fun to find out more about it. I have no idea where my Grandma got it. I used to play "dress up" with it back in the 60's, and she gave it to me when I graduated from high school. I had a great Grandma:D

WOW, that necklace is FAB ! I too had a great grandmother & I'm lucky that I did receive a few pieces of her jewelery & a beautiful little gold handbag, would remind you of what they carried back in the 20's! I sometimes take it on a cruise to use on a formal night.

  5. I love this gown, my favorite style, V neck and the waistline flatter your body. Love the color too.

Hi Marie, Wouldn't that "green necklace & earrings" go great with the green gown you sent me?? Also, had the "pink gown" hemmed & it came out great. I can't wait to wear both of them.

Hope your foot is doing OK now. Have a good week.

  6. Thank you to everyone for your amazing support. :)

I think every single one of us has the power and stregnth in us to deal with things like this... we just don't know it until we need it. You have a choice to either curl up in a ball and feel sorry for yourself and stop living right then or you push forward determined to keep going on. I saw no benefit in the first option, far too young at 43 for that and I have a husband and step kids to think about. So I push forward and I will take everything that life has to offer me and not complain too much. I consider myself blessed for any days I have left and hope to make it far past the expected survival rate for my type of cancer (1-3 years) and will not take any of them for granted. :)

    You go, girl ! :D

Hi Ladies' date=' Hope you are all doing well. Haven't been on here much lately...just dealing with some health issues. You know "getting old"!:D Wanted to show you a dress that I ordered the other day. I actually ordered this dress in black for our last cruise and decided that I liked it so much...I needed another color.[/b']

I've ordered it in red for this years Sweetheart Ball...then I ordered the dress in a royal blue for our upcoming cruise. I kept thinking how much Drew loves this dress with the high neck, and how much I love "GREEN" so I ordered it my favorite shade of green! Yes, another green dress...I just can't help it.

I had them leave the bow off...that bow was just too large and the dress looks so much better without it. Once again the lady that I ordered from was so sweet...I ordered the dress on October 3, and it arrived tonight. I've got to email her now and thank her for all the work she did to make this happen.

I'll post pictures when we get back from the cruise. Everyone have a wonderful and blessed weekend.:)

Hi Sherrie, Nice to see you back on the boards! Will look forward to seeing your pics when you get back from your cruise. Hope you have a great time & say hello to Drew.

I just picked up the pink gown I received from Marie after having it hemmed & I can hardly wait to wear it on our cruise nx month. I too will post pics.

Again, have lots of fun & dance the night away! :D

  8. Hi Everyone! I'm Kristen and I'm a dress a holic! It has been 1 day since my last dress purchase. ;) Just wanted to introduce myself and say that I am happy to be joining your wonderful group. I am new to Cruise Critic and I have been reading this thread for about a week now and finally made it to the end! *phew* I am both glad I finally got here so I can start posting and sad because now I have to WAIT for people to post new stuff! I feel like I've gotten to know so many of you and there is such a fantastic array of tastes and styles that I know you will be a fun group. :)

My hubby, who is an officer in the US Army and I are heading out on the RC Freedom on August 10th for our 25th wedding anniversary. We will be taking our 3 boys who are 21, 16 and 13 with us. It will be my 6th cruise and I love, love, love shopping for them!

The dress I just bought I will have to get one of my boys to snap a pic of me in then figure out how to post it up! Bought it for a gala at a work convention I am heading to in DC next week, but I was looking for something that I could wear a few times since I have a military ball coming up on my husband's arrival back from Afghanistan and the cruise.

Hubby always takes his Dress Blues with him and he just had a tux custom made for him in Afghanistan. It looks sharp!

Laurie, I live in NY close to you on the other side of Syracuse! Maybe we could get together some time and do some cruise dress shopping! :D

OK So now I guess I should ask the big fashion question. While I was in the dress shop getting my dress, the white dresses were screaming all to loudly that I needed to try some on. We are, as I said, going for our 25th wedding anniversary and I really want to do a vow renewal on the ship. So first I was thinking something simple, but I made the mistake of trying on a very definite Wedding dress. It is GORGEOUS and oh so much fun! It is light and BIG and has butterflies all over the skirt. I have to giggle because it is a Disney dress and is called the Rapunzel gown by Alfred Angelo. I feel like such a kid. I'm 49. lol. SO, after 25 years do you bypass the big dress for a simple cocktail like dress or do you say, HEY! I've loved that man for 25 years and our love is bigger now than it ever was and the dress should be too! :p I know it will be just my hubby, 3 boys and I, but what the hey! Who knows, through Roll Call I may just meet a great bunch of people who would love to come watch the renewal! :D

Here is a link to the dress: http://www.weddingideasmag.com/wp-content/gallery/alfred-angelo-disney/alfred-angelo-rapunzel-208.jpg

WOW, that dress is FAB ! GO FOR IT! Your never to old to look BEAUTIFUL! I would wear that in a minute & I'm now 70 ! We too are hopefully doing a vow renewal in Nov. 2014 & I have already purchased a wedding gown in ivory to wear. You will feel great & I'm sure your DH will just love it.

    Also, welcome to CC. :D
