1. I don't usually post photos of myself because 99.9% of the time I hate them. Drew's Wife tells me I should be in front of the camera more so here goes. These are a couple from our recent cruise that don't look too bad. They both are casual nights. (By the way-- I'm not trying to be snootie, just holding my chin up:o.) The second one is a maxi dress.

Love both your dresses, especially the colors, very tropical. :) You look great.

  2. Could hardly wait to tell you ladies about this dress & the FANTASTIC deal I got at Steinmart. The dress was marked down to 35.99 & the sign said 50% off plus it was a Red Dot sale & I had the coupon for the extra 25% off, so I figured it would be about 13.50. When I got to the ck. out I had her ck the price & it came up at 7.95!! Then I got the additonal 25% off. The dress cost me a whopping 5.96 !!!! Am I HAPPY OR WHAT! :D:D:p (really didn't need it, but I'm sure I'll use it on my nx cruise & it fits perfect).

Guess what?? I went back to the store & bought this dress for my sister! They only had 2 left & 1 is her size (hopefully). Had them check the price just to be sure it was still $5.95 (with the coupon) & sure enough it was! :D Now I'm just hoping it will fit her. Will be going to visit her at the end of the month so keeping my fingers crossed that she can wear it. :)

  4. David, for me, this has been the thread of the year.

That was the cruise I wanted to do this year, to the extent that I did post in the Roll Call, and for months, my signature bore the legend "Hopefully Brilliance OTC to Norway, but not confident enough for a countdown clock".

Unfortunately, economic realities kicked in, and much as we tried, we couldn't get two and two to make six, so a vicarious cruise through the eyes of another was the only option left.

And what a vicarious cruise it was. The photographs were excellent, the prose was erudite and engaging, and the perspectives offered were constructive and educational.

Congratulations on a superb review, and enjoy Explorer in December. We will be on the water again in a year or two, and Norway is first on the list.

Sorry this doesn't have anything to do with the review, I just noticed that you are from Donegal and was wondering where in Donegal?? My DH Mum is from Carrigart, and we have LOADS of cousins all around that area, Letterkenny, Ramelton, etc. Hope to get back over next year to visit, it's been 4 yrs. since we've been and I miss it so much. Donegal is my favorite place in the world! :D

  5. Hi, glad you enjoyed my review. You are right, I didn't list the itinerary and by the time I realised it was too late to add it near the start!

We were on a 7-night Norwegian Fjord Cruise from Amsterdam. But not all 7-night Norwegian Fjord Cruises from Amsterdam follow this itinerary - I know some have been to Flåm (see ojeepost's review - http://cruiseforums.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1641412) and maybe other ports as well, and certainly the order can change. This was ours:

    Amsterdam

    At Sea

    Geiranger

    Ålesund

    Molde

    Bergen

    At Sea

    Amsterdam

As for me, I live in a small village in the North Cotswolds, but off the major tourist trail, in the Broadway/Chipping Camden area, you'll forgive me for not being too specific. I'm originally a Yorkshireman, but spent my working life in central London, until a few years ago when I started working from home here in the beautiful Cotswolds :)

Thank you so much for the info. I think we were in the Chipping Camden area on our trip. We also LOVED York. Our cousin is an Irishman from Donegal, but has lived in & around York for years. Hoping to get back over "the pond" next year. Thanks again for the review & the itinerary.

  6. Thank you SO MUCH for an excellant review & the BEAUTIFUL pictures. I'm now really convinced that it's the cruise I must go on at some point (will have to convince my DH of course). I do have one favor to ask, could you please list the itinerary for me of this cruise. (not sure if I missed it at the beginning of your post:confused:).

Also, what part of the "Cotswold's" are you from? We spent 3 days there a few years ago & loved it. We have a cousin in York that we were going to see but went via the Cotswold's first. Hope to get back there some day. :)

Thanks again for the review, you did a great job. Have fun on your next cruise. :D

  7. Gorgeous dresses ladies! I love them all :)

I think I've got one of mine for November pinned down now, if I get a chance I will take a pic next week and post it (working nights weekend)

IrishLassie, do you know where the purple dress your DIL was wearing came from? I *love* it!!

Both of my DIL's got their dress's at Dillards (a gift from me). And they were both on SALE! I think they both looked GREAT. I'm very lucky to have such sweet girls as my DIL's, especially since I had no daughters, only son's. I did get lucky tho & after 3 grandson's, FINALLY got a granddaughter! :D

  8. Yes, reservations can be made for the shows onboard. You can make them in advance using the Pre-Cruise Planner on the Royal Caribbean web site when looking at your reservation when they've opened up reservations for the shows. I don't recall whether you can make reservations after you board. There's a "Planning Event" on the Royal Promenade on Day 1 from 1:30 - 3:00 (according to my Cruise Compass from March), but I don't know whether that's for show reservations or exploring the dining options.

No, not entirely. There aren't the individual folios like on Oasis and Allure. There are computer terminals, however, where you can swipe your SeaPass and order reprints of your photos there. Otherwise, all the pictures are organized by event/activity on the many walls in the photo area and it's time to play the wonderful games of "Where am I?" and "Is this photo mine?".

Thanks for the info. I will start checking for the shows. I found that to be so easy when we went on Oasis. As far as the pictures go, I wish all their ships did the albums, sure was easy to find the pics! :D

  9. I'm so bad, I just purchased another "long" dress from Dillard's that I've been looking at & hoping it would go on sale. I actually went there to look for something for my DIL for our cruise nx wk. & came home with the dress which was "ON SALE" Yea. :D

I'll post a picture soon. Not sure when I'll wear it, but I know there will come a time! :)

  10. I am trying to decide whether to buy this dress.

It's a Calvin Klein, $200, and I ADORE it, but I have a dozen or more cocktail dresses in the closet at home that I could wear for Elegant Night-- plus a long, slinky formal I REALLY want to wear but am not sure if I should.

What are y'all's opinions on this dress?? You can be honest :) I'm not sure if it's the most flattering on me... but I adore it... just not sure if it's $200 worth of fabulous (though I look at my Hermes Birkins and facepalm even as I type this) :o

Just saw this dress again at Dillard's and it's marked down to $55.95 plus an additional 30% off today! I'm going down now to try it on with heels, not sure if it's to short for me?? (I don't like my knee's! LOL). :D
