  1. We cruised 27 days in 2021 and 24 so far this year and we have 59 to go! Our goal was to make up for the days we lost that we would have cruised and we are doing that. To those who have decided to sit it out since March of 2020 I can understand that. Each of us has to take their own age, risk tolerance and health into account and go with that. Since everyone on cc is posting in a cruising community, I can only assume that all want to cruise again. I hope that happens for everyone.
  2. The turnout was phenomenal! They had long assembly tables that covered one half of the MDR. Everyone worked hard and made thousands of meals. All those people in the pic below were passengers at assembly tables volunteering to help. It was pretty special to see. I was more freaked out leaving my home but Dorian just rode the coast and missed us. I can't believe it took you to point out Dorian especially after this personal experience but I think you nailed it.
  3. Very possible DC. While they are 400 miles away from each other with a storm that powerful that makes sense. We actually prepared our home for the hurricane and left on a cruise. It was nuts as Celebrity moved up our departure time to leave. Here's our stateroom TV and the track. The last picture is many of us passengers prepared boxed meals for the people of the Bahamas. They used the tenders to deliver the meals.
  4. Fair enough BUT if a beach is not wide enough to handle high tide then it just isn't wide enough imo. I was only comparing it to CC and GSC because both beaches blew HMC beach away when i visited all 3 in a 3 month period a few months ago. Thats still imo a picture of an average beach which isn't saying much considering that's the the best its ever going to get. Thanks for posting it.
  5. We did a waitlist for an excursion in October this year and because people are still canceling cruises more than usual the list opened up and we got in. It's a short time in port and we didn't want to do our own thing. Good luck
  6. Yes wide impressive beach picture WITH loungers! Or heck get someone to drag one lounger out and snap that pic.
  7. With all due respect that picture looks doctored up to sell HMC to sell cruises. It doesn't even look like an authentic photo like others have posted here.
  8. I do live by the Ocean so I get it. Not a very wide impressive beach picture to me but as was noted earlier if one takes a good hike you can have a big beach on HMC just no loungers. Your photo is awesome though. The water at HMC is always beautiful. That must have been a nice place to sit and relax for sure!
  9. That's great! Throw a pic or two up so we can see the new wide beach!
  10. We didn't walk that far this time but we have done some nice photo shoots down there. Wink Wink We had also just been in Bimini at a fantastic beach so didn't feel like hiking. If someone wants to walk the 3 to 5 miles round trip do it and bring your camera. Lol
  11. Just because those articles have written dates doesn't mean the picture/s are from that date as you stated . All I know for sure is photos I took in November 2021 with the eroded beach. Maybe they have done some work since then and brought some fill in.
  12. And your last time there was? Do you have any recent pics you took showing the beach?
  13. I don't think they want to risk safety. I am certain the CDC was consulted before it was announced. People may not agree but let's not jump to conclusions that they are just doing a money grab.
  14. The thing that caught my eye is "more changes will be announced shortly"....."
  15. Would love to see one or two of your pics with the extra 30-40 feet wide of beach. As for Coco on the non water park side it is not anymore artificial than HMC. I won't debate the nicer island because I like them all.
  16. That pic from Coco is just one of several beaches that are all better than HMC. I have those pics of all the beaches that I took as well. I live on the coast in Florida and know when they bring fill in.....and when they don't. HMC at low tide pales in comparison to the other private islands. I love HAL but I'm not going to bs when it's just not as nice of a beach. As a footnote because that row or as you say rows of loungers are on a narrow beach they wind up in the water at some point and your towels and belongings are soaked. This does not happen at Coco or Great Stirrup Cay at high or low tide because the beaches are huge compared to HMC.
  17. Well at least the beach can provide the one row you like. Many remember when it was a much wider beach with several rows. I could dig out some old pics but no need.
  18. First shot HAL HMC beach November 2021 Second shot RCL Coco Cay October 2021 Thirst shot NCL Great Stirrup January 2022 You be the judge... "beach" wise......
  19. Yeah Maybe you do and maybe they brought some sand in. Having been there many times the beach had shrunk. Glad they fixed it!
  20. We were at HMC last November and the beach was eroded terribly. It was one narrow beach! Hopefully they are paying for the necessary sand replacement. We were also at Perfect Day in October and Great Stirrup this past January and both beaches blew HMC away. I don't like to say this as I prefer HAL but those are the facts.
