  1. Had a nice time on my little trip.... we went for dinner last night and then just rented movies with a bottle of wine (my idea I was tired and it was relaxing)... today went for breakfast and chilled out at his house till 1ish when we had to go to his nephews graduation party (can we say meet all the family at once lol) then took a walk at the NEW Zoo... and finished at the casino where he put $20 in the penny machine for me and I walked out with $147.50.... made up for me taking Friday night off at the restaurant:rolleyes:

Renee...glad you had a nice trip...the bottle of wine and movie sounded especially good...and way to go girl winning the money on a penny machine. :)

  2. Mark - So sorry for your loss. I will be praying for you and your family. The last couple of years have been like that for us. In less than one year I lost my mom and Dave lost his Dad and step mom. We also lost an aunt, an uncle and a friend. We attended 6 funerals in a 14 month period. It has been 9 months now since the last one. Congrats on your daughter's graduation though and thanks for working on the banner. Take your time though. There's no hurry. It's not like the cruise is next week.

Heidi...I remember when all that was happening...it was a hard time for you...sometimes it seems like you just picked yourself up from one funeral and had to go to another...glad that those days are past.

  3. Wow all the tragedy happening to all my wonderful Breeze buddies. This is why I like group cruises. You really get to know everyone so much that they are like sibs and bros before you even meet them.

My Dream cruise peeps helped me so much when I had my DGS and he was giving me so many problems. If it wasn't for them I don't think I could have made it.

I only wish I was in to cruising back in 1996 when I lost my daughter. That is something you never get over and it has taken me a long time to start living again.

I am here for everyone that may need me good or bad. I may be know as Chatty Cathy or Cat but I am a hell of a listener also.

So on that note.....just came back from PT and I was pulled and prodded into positions I did not know I could go.:eek:

Well just cruising the boards for now, chat later!!!

Cat...I understand how you feel and the deep feeling of loss just pops up sometimes when you least expect it...you are in my thoughts.

Tomorrow is Robin's birthday so Lisa and Robin's daughters and I are going to have lunch to celebrate her BD...then we will put flowers and balloons on her grave...so tomorrow might be a little tough.

  4. The strangest thing just happened. I wanted to download a song to my iPhone. Of course I needed to put in a debit or credit card number so I tried to enter all the info from my Mastercard debit card but every time I tried I got a message telling that the info I entered does not match my bank records. I thought at first I just entered it wrong but I did it several times and got the same message. Then I thought maybe it was because it was a brand new debit card that I just activated yesterday and maybe there is a bit of a lag time before iTunes will recognize the new card but I used it at the grocery store today and it was worked fine. I even dug through the garbage and pulled out my old card and tried entering it with the old expiration date and security code and that didn't work either. Anyone have any idea what might be the problem. Maybe I do just need to give it a couple more days but that doesn't really make sense. I have credit cards I could use but I would prefer to use my debit card because I try really hard not to use credit cards unless I have to. Downloading apps and music to my iPhone is not a necessity. LOL. I use my debit card for my Kindle too because I figure if I can't afford to pay cash for a book then I shouldn't be buying it. BTW, I also went to Amazon and put in the new debit card information and didn't get any kind of message. It was accepted. The card number is the same, just the exp. date and security code has changed.

Heidi...I had some trouble with that in the beginning with my iPhone 4 and so I went back to Verizon and they tweeked it...I think it has something to do with pass words...I don't remember if Jim had any problems when he got his 4S tho'...you are going to love your phone more and more as time passes...I know I really like mine...tho' I can't talk into my phone like you and Jim can.

  5. the funniest thing happened to me earlier. Dave had an eye appointment this morning and decided not to go back to work after. We decided to go out to lunch but 1st we went to drop a package off at the UPS store. Dave dropped me off right in front and when I came out he wasn't there. I looked over at the row of cars in the actual parking spaces and saw a brown Equinox so I figured he had just pulled in there to get out of the way. It was raining hard so I had my hood up and wasn't really paying attention. I just ran to the car and opened the front passenger door. I very startled, stange woman was sitting there. I just said to her. "Oops, sorry, wrong car. It looks just like mine." LOL. I turned around just in time to see Dave coming around the corner. He had decided to turn around and that's why he wasn't there when I cam out. I got in the car and was laughing so hard the tears were streaming down my face. I probably scared the crap out of that poor woman. In my defense, it was the same kind of car and the same color. When I took a better look I could see a few differences (mine has more chrome) but that was it. I don't think I've laughed so hard since Cupid's III.

Heidi...I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE your stories...and this one is a visual...I almost spit out my soda from laughing. :D

  6. Morning Cupids...

Well my quiet day yesterday didn't stay that way long...did laundry (planned that), Jim had a doctor's appointment (planned)...our granddaughter Kara came by (happy unplan) and two of our college girls came by (unplaned...but okay)...so there went my afternoon. Jim pulled a muscle in his leg so will need some PT...I guess the strain was pretty bad he is having a lot of trouble walking.

YES!!! I got it. It took several tries but check out my signature. LOL

YAY...so much fun when we can get something technical to work...I know it is for me. :D

Char, we have the lovebugs that show up every May and September just like the snowbirds.lol

Cat...love that name...now that would be fun...go and live where the weather is good...then leave when it turns bad...we don't do the heat well anymore either. However...I would HATE the constant moving...unless it is just clothes they pack each time...I guess they would have to maintain two homes.

Yes, still working with special needs kids... mostly with their teachers, but it's the same job that you're thinking of.

Mimi...what a great thing you do...we have two DGDs who work with autistic children...it is a challange but so worthwhile...I think it is the parents who suffer the most...and has sometimes broken marrages...it is really sad.

Sue...how awful...but you would think he would know better than fly in a storm like that...he had already had two crashes??? I don't think I would want to fly with him or let my kids. But I am truly sorry for his family.

Dave...sure glad you can buy groceries and gas for the car...what a drag...I bet you will be glad when the strike is over.

I hope everyone has a really good day...will chat more later.

  7. Mornin' Cupids...

Cathy p...WOW you talked to 254 people yesterday???? No wonder you didn't feel "chatty"...

Sue & Mimi...I LOVE dumplings too...don't think I have ever had dim sum tho'...will try it now. :D

Heidi...so glad you got to spend a little time with Eric...how does it feel to have an empty nest again? After our kids visit then go home it kind of feels empty...but nice and quiet.

Dave...glad you and Bettie had a nice day yesterday...the museum sounds interesting...Jim LOVES going to museums.

We were in Visalia most of yesterday...Visalia is a small town about 45 minutes south east of us...well smaller than Fresno anyway...very clean and pretty...we had lunch in old town (downtown) and the weather was really nice...but heating up today. Then friends dropped by last night so we had a nice evening with them...sat on the patio which was nice...and I had ALL my insect repellant right in front of me ready to use. ;)

Anyway...hope you all have a really nice day...we will be home most of today...Jim has a routine doctor appointment and Kara (DGD) will be coming by at 1:00p.m.

  8. Char, what a beautiful family, horses and that view. Do you live there in a house at the other end of the pasture. I told my son if he ever wins the lottery he could put us on the other side of the lake in a beautiful log cabin.lol

Cat...no but sure wish we did...we live in a plain ole house about 15 minutes away. However, they want us to put a mobil or modular home on part of the property someday when we get old and feeble. So we will see not ready to do that just yet. LOL

  9. Char, I found the picture on FB. It's of you, Steve, Dot, Sherry and Mark.

Dave...not sure which one you saw...but I tried a couple before I put it up...you know it is part of the new "timeline" thingy FB is doing...now I don't know how the others found it...but it should come up when you go to my "wall"?

Anyway...it is of you, Bettie, me, Jim and Bonnie and Mike in Seattle the day before we left for our Alaska cruise.

I guess I will have to check it out and see if I can figure out what happened...but I am not good with FB.

  10. Char, great pics. I also have a new iPhone. My BB was giving me trouble and when I had to reboot and reload it three days in a row that was it. Did you get the 4S. That is what I have. Love it. I'm going to use it was a hot spot for my iPad.

    Dave

Dave...I have an iPhone 4...Jim has the iPhone 4S and we both love our phones. The camera's are much better on the 4S with 8mp where mine has 5mp...still not shabby for a phone but Jim's phone will take better pictures. When Jim had his Droid it was a hot spot for his Motorolla Tablet and now his iPhone is. I may get an iPad down the road...still undecided tho'.

Dave...I put up a new cover photo on FB and it has gotten quite a stir...the "mystery couple" on the right had everyone guessing...was fun. Take a look. LOL

  11. Well, Eric FINALLY showed up, about 15 minutes before I have to leave for work. Been waiting 2 days. Now he's not even sure if he's spending the night here but I have to close tonight which means I might not be home till about midnight.

Heidi...let us know how his foot looks...crazy kids they just don't take care of injuries...unless they are imobolized by it.

Speaking of foot problems I have to tell you that I got a mosquito bite...first one of the year in early April...well it didn't look quite right then got so bad that my entire ankle and part of my foot got red and swollen...then blisters appeared as well as red spots...so I went to see the doctor...kind of embarrassed to see him about a mosquito bite...but he took it very very seriously and told me that I had cellulitis which is an infection of the skin cells and can lead to a blood infection wich can be fatal...long story short I had to promise that I would come right back in if it didn't look better the next morning...he even asked me if I lived close to the hospital...because he told me that if he couldn't trust me to come back immediately he was going to put me in the hospital...well I promised with girl scouts honor that I would do what he asked...so I went home with a very strong antibiotic and bed rest for three days with my foot elevated above my heart. So now I don't leave the house without a variety of insect repellent. Jim told me not to get paranoid and I said right back at him that that was easy for him to say.

  12. Cathy...our daughter and SIL live on 8 acres and it is set up for horses...they have two horses...use to have three but she was put down last year due to old age she was an arabian and mother of one of the horses they have...the other is a quarter horse and only five years old so pretty frisky...but a real sweet horse. However, I do keep my distance after all they are way bigger than I am. Actually the horses belong to Kara our granddaughter who trains them...but hasn't been to any shows yet.

Here is a photo...it was on their Christmas card two years ago...the two original horses on the left are mother and daughter...they got Duke a couple months later.

Left to right...Phil, Lisa, Kassie and Kara (will try to get more photos of the property)

  13. Hi Breeze Buddies,

Found a site that may be interesting to the Cupid's. I enjoyed seeing what is available at Bayside Market Place.

    http://www.baysidemarketplace.com/visit

Started out by checking out the Holiday Inn Port of Miami -

    http://www.holidayinn.com/hotels/us/en/miami/miabb/hoteldetail

Kathy...with a "K"...thanks for the links...I added them to my favorites. Love the look of Bayside Marketplace...and hoping that we can get a special rate at the Holiday Inn across the street.

  14. We run Netflix through a Roku that Jim bought...we don't have a Wii but thinking about getting one...then move the Roku to the bedroom and put the Wii in the living room.

Sue...we got that dang "uploading" too at first and drove me crazy too...but Jim may have adjusted something or called and asked what the problem was..but now it works okay. The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't run new movies...but we are watching a lot of TV series that we didn't watch while they were on. We watched ALL of 24...could never get into it while it was on TV...now I know why you had to really watch from the beginning or at least the beginning of each season or you were lost. We have also watched Burn Notice, The Guardian and White Collar...we are currently watching Numbers. We may go back to the DVDs after we catch up on the TV shows we want to see...coz we miss the frist run movies.

Sue...that is so funny that you were in your PJs all day long...we have done that a few times oursevles and LOVE it...usually during bad weather...put the fire on in the fireplace and watch movies all day long. :D

Cathy-p...you live in The Villages...I have heard lots of good stuff about the place. Looks like you have some clothes shopping to catch up on...can't let the hubby get ahead.

And thanks Dave, Donna, Cathy-p and anyone else who chimed in about the hotels in Miami...all the information we can get really helps make a decision where to stay when the time comes.

Wishing everyone a really nice Memorial Day...and remember our soldiers who gave their lives for our country.

  15. Hello Cupids...

We had a nice day today...fed the horses this morning and Jim asked if I would like to go to Bass Lake for lunch...well duh  I said yes. We went home and changed our clothes and off we went. Had a nice lunch at Ducey's on the Lake then came home fed the horses...now PJ time...and it isn't even dark.

Here are a couple of photos I took today with my I-phone: The first two were while it was partly cloudy and the third one is when the sun came out...we were on the small end of the lake at the lodge and marina...weren't too many boats on the water today which kind of surprised me...but we had fun anyway. The photos were taken from our table at the restaurant.

  16. Okay...I found it...and I think I remember it from the show that Guy did about road stop places. Here is the link http://www.grampasbakery.com/

Kathy...oh do get on more than once a week...and as you can see this group is rather chatty...including me too I guess. Your boys are in college??? I remember when they were still doing scouting stuff...what year are they in?

Okay...now this is the final one...off to watch movies. :D

  17. Char -Mimi leaves near me in the Chicago area. We've even seen each other a couple of times here at home. Grampa's is a breakfast restaurant. Guy Fieri did a segment on it for his show. I know Mimi and Andy went there in Feb. before our cruise and we went there with Dave and Bettie the morning they picked us up at the airport. We went straight there from the airport.

Heidi...now I remember that...trying Gramdpa's sounds like fun will have to consider that.

Right now Jim and I are planning on arriving in Miami the Wednesday before the cruise so we can bum around the area...might even try and get up to Fort Lauderdale and do the canals...that is what we wanted to do for Cupids III.

Mimi...I couldn't find your review but I will check out Granspa's on line if they have a website.

Okay...now for sure going to watch movies...Jim was busy a few minutes ago but now he is ready...especially after I made him a sandwich.

  18. Heidi & Cathy...I will send you an email about how to get started as a TA...probably shouldn't talk much about it here.

Cathy...thanks for taking this on both Sue and I have done it in the past and it is a big job. LOL Anyway I think the hotels open for booking about a year before your stay...maybe we could get group rates.

Donna...funny how hubby's find that a project disaster funny the next day...and probably even funnier now that he has it all prepared and ready to install. LOL

Mimi...I will check out Grampa's Bakery...do you live in the Miami area too?

Well we are going to spend a good part of the afternoon watching some movies on Netflix...going to be a quiet week-end for us.

  19. Char, on our Looney cruise several people stayed that the Holiday Inn Bayside market. It looks great and if I did not get a free room at the Hilton like this year I would have stayed there. The Bayside Market is wonderful. All kind of shops and we sent as a group to Bubba Gumps Shrimp Restaurant. We had a great time and they treated us really good. Their is a Best Western not far from the pier, however, it is a dump. A couple of our people stayed there and it was in a bad part of town. We took a taxie and dropped them off before we went to our hotel.

I will be happy to check prices when we get close to there and find out how many will be coming in the night before. I love to do that. I should have been a travel agent. We have stayed at the Embassy Suites which is nice. I could call all their group department and ask how much once we get closer. Maybe we could pick like 2 or 3 and go from there.

I am about 4 hours from Miami and will be their the night before as well. That Hilton we are staying at is on the same street as Bayside.

Here I go rambling on and on. OOPS!:o

Cathy P...thanks so much for the info and any help you can give is helpful. You should be a TA...I worked in education at the college level most of my working career...then when I retired I became a home based TA and loved it...I was busier than I really wanted to be in retirement then when our oldest daughter died suddenly last year my heart just wasn't in it any longer so I retired again...but I think you would like it and with your "gift for gab" you would be great. :D

  20. Cathy P...OMG that is an amazing story and tooooo scary. How far are you from Miami? Would your brain be the brain to pick for hotels before or after the cruse? I checked a few out and the one that catches my eye is the Holiday Inn across from Bayside Marketplace and supposedly very close to the cruise port. Do you know anything about that area? This will be our first time in Miami...actually our first time in Florida so we are really excited.
