  1. Let me dig and find ours. We sailed May 31 on the pearl. The 13 year old will be with the teen club. I have a 13 and 17 year old they didn't find any interest at the club, but I kinda think they planned it that way. They are close and it is hitting hard that college is a year away so they has a game plan way before we stepped foot on the ship!

  2. Our first and only M&G was last year on the jewel, no fancy slot pulls or grab bags. However we made contacts within the crew that helped us tremendously with a lost piece of luggage, our teen daughter connected with another CC kids and had a blast(they actually figured out where they "knew" each other from( CC meet), we recognized those parents( or they recognized us) and had several fun times together and had a lively and fun dinner with the captain and the host of the M&G. So please show up, you just never know.

  3. We ate nearly every breakfast in Moderno so we spoke with her nearly every morning, maybe that is the difference. Of course we did the same last year on jewel and we were snubbed by Bruno. Lol. It kinda sucks when others are made to feel special and you are treated like you have the pox! Did you eat at the German fest by the pool? We hard already eaten when we remembered it but samples a few things. It was pretty good!

  4. We did jewel last sailing in May, last year. We didn't get to much trivia or games this time. The port times were a bit wonky for us I guess. And we when came back from excursions we were pretty tired and yucky so needed to clean up. We did see several shows. We mostly enjoyed our deck or window seats. We did pop into the casino maybe twice. We love Alaska and are seriously looking into a summer cabin there.

  5. Yuck about Elvina. She was able to get us reservation and switch our times around. We weren't picky though I had the printout of our reservations and marked the times we wanted but didn't require a certain restaurant on a certain day. She was always in moderno in the morning. If we needed her in the afternoon we usually asked the host at Moderno/Cagney to relay we were in need of something if we didn't call her. She even tracked us in the bowling alley one day. The butler doesn't handle reservations and really doesn't see the concierge, so that is why he was telling you to request through her. Where their 3 of your in the penthouse? Did you feel it plenty of space? Do you think 4 people would be comfortable in there!

  6. No my name is not joe. However it's funny you say search cruise critic for the answer. Who gave anonymous posters on cruise critic the authority to set the standards for what butlers are tipped? People should tip what they want. I gave an honest answer as to what we tip. A butler will do no more or less for a family or 2 or 4 or 6 if nothing is ask of him. Customers should tip what they feel the butler earned on that their stay. Can you honestly say every butler has earned the exact amount each time? No one butler has been better or worse?

  7. Where did the 10 a day per person start? I've google and can find it

No where. I seriously can't imagine a family of 6, staying in a 2 bedroom, asking nothing or just 1 Meal delivered the entire cruise paying $60 a day as a tip. I feel butlers should be tipped but as each cruisers feels not by a sum set by joe blow. And FWIW other people cruising the haven that had asked us thought that was a bit off standard too.

  8. I guess we different than most cruisers. We don't want to see our butlers or cabin stewards, unless we call them or in the haven courtyard. We have used ours for meal delivery mainly. If it's early breakfast we let him know early afternoon, the day before what we want and the time. We have tipped 100 to 200 for a week for a family of 4. We have had drinks delivered and sometimes we are charged and sometimes we are not. We always tip cash to whomever delivers drinks to us, regardless. Enjoy your suite there is no hard set guide lines for tipping.

  9. Ncl Pearl 14010. Noise from deck below that I thought was a child beating a drum turned out to be the large chess pieces being moved hard by people. Also they have a bean toss game/ competition that happens under this cabin, very loud when it occurs. Also open deck above you, it is not only for haven guests. Lots of running and tromping at night. We had several nights of no hot water with no real explanation from crew. We think a possibility is they regulate flow when they need to fill private hottubs and this cabin is affected by it.

  10. We cruised there the past 2 years and if I had my way we would live there. I'm kicking myself daily for discouraging my husband, when we newly married, to not pursing a law enforcement career there! BUT he is open to a summer cabin for retirement for us, at the right price.

  11. We just got back from our 2nd cruise from Seattle. We live in a smaller city than seattle with not much walking or public transportation. We felt very safe. We stayed in lower Queen Anne, went over to Freemont, pike market and blocks that surround it, all around the space needle, and a running trail down by the beach that goes by the grain elevators. Use common sense, stay aware of your surrounding and who is approaching you, don't weight your hands down with tons of bags. I also leave my designer purse at home and carry a small crossover turned in not out. We used Uber for the first time and loved it! Much better drivers than taxis and they won't try and bump their price up by taking you through traffic or on the "scenic" route, lol.

  12. Super fast before we board yhe Pearl, I wanted to tell everyone thank you! My daughter is feeling so much better now. I was able to gat all of us on standby and arrived at a good time Friday. Our luggage found us Saturday morning . We ate very well and now am an uber expert. My husband was skeptical but after a taxi driver tried to take us for a "ride", he didn't get away with it, he loved Uber and how it worked! Thanks again everyone!!!

  13. Thanks everyone we are currently in a flight cancelled being rerouted craziness!! So I can't do anything yet. I was just going to have her dr call it in. But if need be I can take her to a quack shack to get the presc. Allergies have turned into sinus infection. To bad these airports don't have one.

  14. Thanks again everyone I have narrowed it down to steelhead, Anthony chinook or Taylor's. My husband liked the idea of getting a crab and having them pick it for us and having a picnic with other treats from the market. So we will prob do that for lunch.

Vibeguy - My husband won't let me go to whole food. He said I would spend all day in there!! I love grocery stores and we don't have one of those.

  15. Wow thanks. I've been looking at menus and had to agree some places were not wallet friendly, for our family, anyway. My kids always try a raw oyster but have yet to like them. My husband and I however will be consuming many dozens! Everything else is fair game. My oldest doesn't like fish, except sushi. But hasn't tried tuna yet. All shellfish is eaten hand over fist. We all wanting to try razor clams. I can't wait until Friday!!
