  1. Not really enough information. How many days were those cruises? How many ports out of 4 missed are we talking about? What were the circumstances? As always I'm sure the devil is in the details. I'm sure other lines miss a certain number of ports also, I don't monitor all the boards here to know, and some of them have many ships. As FF said, we really don't have all the data concerning missed ports in the cruise industry to determine if Oceania has one of the largest percentages of missed ports. At this point it's all conjecture and anecdotal information. One thing I do know, there seems to be no end to people that cruise on Oceania that seem to know more than the Captains.
  2. This wasn't an ordinary universal remote. It was one a technician would use. I wish the poster that did it would come along and explain it, but it does take a certain amount of technical knowledge.
  3. Yes, but I remember one person posting once that was a real techie and brought some type of Universal Remote that could override Hotel type TVs and was able to get in the setup menu. Over my head and I'm not sure what he was accessing, it's been a long time since I read about it. We used to have a saying when I was a kid, "Will it work?" answer, "It will if you wire it up right". It doesn't matter what you're trying to do.
  4. On Marina you want to look at deck 7, front and rear. They definitely show them sticking out further. There are 4 Penthouse at the rear of the ship, 2 PH1's & 2 Ph2, then the others are B3's, Port side rear 7128-7108, front 7000-7008, starboard side front-7001-7009, rear, 7111-7131 Posting same time as Lyn
  5. There are no hump cabins on Oceania ships, there are some that have larger balconies, but I'm not sure if they're A1s. Check the deck plans on the Oceania site and they do show the larger ones on the pictures. On Riviera & Marina they are at the back and front of deck 7 and I believe still a B3 category. On Vista they are on multiple decks, but I'm not sure of the categories. On the smaller R ships there are some A level cabins at the rear of the ship with larger balconies. Which ship are you on?
  6. Looks like the deposit went down for everything PH & below, it used to be $750 pp.
  7. I've always had no trouble with this but I did read recently that some cruiser was told no.
  8. I wouldn't bet on it, maybe, but I don't think they like customers messing around with the connections.
  9. I think you have her confused with LTH82
  10. Although this is not the Celebrity board have they changed that from a $200 penalty and the other $700 being able to be applied to a future cruise? When we had this come up with them that was the case.
  11. I've never been on Viking or Seabourne, so I'm not the right person to ask.
  12. The ones that magically spin? I have a funny story on that, but I won't go into the details, but just in case anyone gets one don't pack it in your carry on if you're going to fly. They are filled with liquid. They also need light to spin. I'm looking at mine right now.
  13. Here is something I see, there are some first timers that come from lines like Celebrity, Princess, Norwegian, etc that have the ship within a ship set up, and they are used to special attention and being buttered up, then for the same money they come to Oceania in a regular veranda, or PH for that matter and don't really get that experience. Everyone is pretty much treated the same, you need to be a self sufficient cruiser and be looking for a low key experience, with excellent bedding and great service, as well as above average food. The high energy buzz that some other lines have is not Oceania. In other words, no certain group is special, everyone is. No big production shows, no ice rinks, no water show(which I've enjoyed on Royal), no fancy casino, low key bar experience, etc. It's hard for me to explain, and it's not for everyone. I'm ok sitting out on the deck, just watching the ocean, staring off into space, I don't need to be entertained. I do enjoy tours and doing things, but I'm one of those people that love TA's and TP's. As I said, not everyone is like that.
  14. If anything should be made a sticky here it should be this statement. I feel unrealistic expectations is the number #1 reason for many of the poor reviews we've seen lately. Now, when I see people with multiple past O cruises pointing out issues, and there are some, past cruisers as well as issues, then attention should be paid to it, and management should act accordingly.
  15. Are you only reading what you want to see? Some people are liking it just fine, and not just mericans.
  16. I have never been on any Oceania ship in any category that the closet and storage areas were too small. We can travel anywhere for any number of days with 2 29" suitcases, 2 carry ons and 2 personal item/backpacks. All of this can easily be rolled by us and easily fits in any of the Oceania room storage areas. There are free laundries onboard. Packing and traveling is an art, the more we do it the better we get at it. This is really a non-issue, but if it is an issue for you due to your personal style or preferences then you might consider moving up to a PH or higher room.
  17. I'll try to answer both questions, it depends. It depends on who the spa manager is and what they will allow. There should be a policy on this, but it seems to vary. It's also changed over the years. Make sure you ask them before you try to do it. Typically my wife has been able to use my certificate but hasn't been able to combine them for one service. She can apply them to two separate services. If there is any left over you will probably lose it unless you get an additional service at the same time. As has been stated if you use $125 of it you can't apply the grats to it also, that is charged to your onboard account. In the past if my wife and I were both getting a treatment at the same time and I had some leftover it could applied to hers, but this seems to not be an option anymore. On our last cruise there was not any massages or facials that you could get for $150, in the past there were multiple ones. I think this is due to more and more cruisers starting to get the perk.
  18. On this same subject I was just looking at the Oceania Club perks in the book I got last week and realized that while Gold & Platinum gets 2 $150 spa credits the Diamond + members gets 2 $200 credits per cabin. I can't believe I've missed this before.
  19. Doh, you are so right, I was looking at them side by side in my favorites to make sure I got it right as I frequently confuse the names. It is definitely (tripinsurancestore.com) as you said. My mistake. I just purchased some a couple of days ago for an upcoming trip.
  20. You do know you're wasting your time? Some people already know everything, so there's no point in trying to help them. I'd use the ignore feature if it wasn't for the amusement factor of what some people post.
  21. Yes, InsureMyTrip is who I use. Read through their website, it has answers to a lot of questions, including explaining the lookback period. For the past 8 months or so I have been in active treatment every few months. Steve had me get a letter from my Dr and put on file that when I booked the cruise I was fine to go on a trip. From talking to Steve there are a lot of things that people "know" about trip insurance that is not necessarily right. Talk to a professional, then make your decisions from there.
  22. Having said that I have seen a grill at Waves. Where do they put a grill out on the deck, do they remove some tables? Anyone have pictures of that? I have to admit I haven't been on Insignia since right before the engine caught on fire, and that's been a long time, but I have been on Regatta recently, at least in the past year.
  23. Interesting, never seen a grill out there on any Oceania ship.
  24. Glad to hear it wasn't as bad as expected. They're pouring the driveway today. The heat index here today is supposed to be around 105-110. I feel bad for those guys out there smoothing the concrete out. About a month till we move in.
