  1. Ken, what time are you getting in to Honolulu? Where are you staying? Have you taken any flying lessons, OB? Sounds like you should. You will probably love it.
  2. Some food pictures Black Pepper Wings Carnitas Wet Burrito Teddy’s Bigger Burger Gamberetti Carbonara I made stir-fry, like the Windjammer’s Spam Fried Rice Famous Leonard’s Malasadas Cinnamon Sugar(left) & Coconut-filled Malasadas(right). I also tried Mango-filled & Guava-filled flavors.
  3. For the past 52 years, Church on the Beach has held church services every Sunday, rain or shine, right in the backyard on the beach of the hotel.
  4. We visited the U.S. Army Museum of Hawaii the other day. It is about a five minute walk from our hotel. The museum is situated on the site of the Battery Randolph, which was built as a first line of defense against an enemy attack by sea. The exhibits in the museum galleries depict early Hawaiian warfare through the Vietnam War. But as I went through the exhibit on Pearl Harbor, it made me hope and pray that we are militarily prepared for any future attacks by any adversaries. Some tank displays in front of the building As you enter the building The Cobra Helicopter The 7-inch gun from the battleship USS New Hampshire
  5. Spotted Quantum of the Seas sailing away yesterday right before sunset. Sat for awhile at the bar to listen to this group. They are a regular here. This photo is for @Ocean Boy. The guitarist is singing the song “Landslide”. He’s not Stevie Nicks but still did a good job. This one is for @grapau27 as this reminds me of fish & chips even though it’s going to be fish tacos with all the guacamole, sour cream and slaw put on it. This is from the farmers market this morning. Alfredo, the chef here makes great food. On Wednesday’s farmers market, he makes Italian food. Pictures later on that. It’s how it’s made.
  6. Yes! Going to Spam Jam later, after I catch up on this thread. It starts at 4:00 PM. And, please know that I will continue to keep you, family and your daughter in my prayers. Warren, please don’t quit. I think many of us always have a hard time keeping up and falling behind on this thread. It moves faster than a speeding bullet. There could be so many topics and conversations going on at once. Just browse through and if a certain topic doesn’t interest you, just keep scrolling and speed read. Besides, when I see QueSeraSera, I always start singing that song in my head and can’t get it out of my head. What will be, will be. Loved the song and Doris Day. I’m a perfectionist, too, Bob. We’ve had offers of free Shutterfly Photo Books and you just pay for shipping. DH did one and on the second one, he asked if I wanted to do it. I said No because there are too many photos to choose from and it’s hard to pick just so many pictures. And I would want to do everything just right and it would be a time consuming task for me that I would rather not get into. So he made the second book himself. Happy 52nd Anniversary! Dani, finally made it to Madrid where you feel good and comfortable being there. Have a fantastic time! You deserve it after so many attempts of trying to have a nice vacation. @CruiszBug Denny and her gang will be with us also.
  7. Oh, Pat, that looks cold but the air is clean and crisp, right? I wish you were here with us. You would love it! It’s only 77 degrees today but very windy. Gotta hold onto your hat or it’ll fly away.
  8. I always admire all the photos that you post. To me, they are really nice and sharp. You have a very good phone/camera.
  9. I hope you catch it next time you visit. Here’s one for you and Mike. John @Ozark_Kid Sorry I didn’t answer your question about the water temperature. I was told that it is cool but nice when you first get in, certainly not cold and it is very pleasant after that. See you real soon.
  10. Saturday morning, we went to the KCC Farmers Market right across from the Diamond Head. Found these orchards for @ReneeFLL Renee. We tried this tropical treat- Ginger Colada. Ingredients were Hawaiian ginger syrup, 100% pineapple juice and premium coconut milk and water. To me, I think there was too much ice.
  11. Reverse. Reverse. I’m a little behind so let’s go back a few days to last Friday night. Every Friday night the Hilton Hawaiian Village would put on a firework display right on the beach. But these fireworks had stopped for 2 years during Covid and they just started back up last year in June 2022. So, me, who love fireworks along with what seemed like a million other people who also love fireworks sat out on the beach and waited for it to start. Our view while we waited. The whole 3 minutes of it was spectacular. I’m still learning how to take good fireworks photos with my phone.
  12. I see girls wearing flip-flops on the hike and that’s a very bad idea. Yes, it is a very easy start with paved path but then the trail gets very uneven and rugged. You can easily twist your ankle and sprain it. I did that the first time I hiked it. And that was wearing proper shoes. Good thing there is railing that you can hang onto along the path but definitely not for anyone with bad knees or hips. So on the way back from Diamond Head, we decided to visit the Honolulu Zoo. We pass by it all the time but never been there. I remember there was some talk about zoo’s on here and thought we’d check it out report back. It is a smallish zoo but just enough to walk around and find your usual animals if they are not hidden in the shade somewhere where you can’t see them. Vulture looked right at me. Scary. This shave ice was so rewarding and refreshing after all that walking.
  13. Good for you! I hate those staircases, too. You just have to take a deep breath and just go. I counted the first set. It was like 68 steps. The second was like 99. And then there are the metal circular staircases. When you get to the top, your have to duck your head to climb up and out to the lookout. I hit my head on that yesterday. Ow! View from bottom of staircase View from top of staircase
  14. We went on the Diamond Head Trail hike yesterday. This is the inside of the crater. Going to hike to the observation station at the summit. You can see people on the trail We made it to the top! We climbed all the way to the top to get this for @Ocean Boy
  15. This was the sunrise from yesterday. It was pretty hidden. That’s Diamond Head in the distance there. Looks like today’s sunrise would be better but we are getting ready to go hike the Diamond Head. My first sighting of a rainbow Ramen and Spam from Costco to made our own ramen. Not the fresh ramen that @dani negreanuDani’s DH makes but it’s still good.
  16. No sunrise pictures from this morning because it was cloudy and rainy. It was a wild night last night with super strong gusty winds and pounding rain. But the rain stop today and turned out to be a very nice day. Sunset tonight Some goodies we came back with from Costco today. Custard Pie. Guava filled danish. Almond filled danish. Too much powder sugar. Will have to shake some of it off before eating. Dinner was at this really popular place- Side Street Inn. Great food. Humongous portions. So much leftover. Small Farmer’s Salad Signature Garlic Chicken Signature Fried Rice
  17. Thank you! We have arrived! The weather is cloudy and rainy tonight through tomorrow. So a little change in plans on what to do. I’m glad your son and his family had a great time here. Thanks, OB! A few gates down from us (Southwest) had delayed flights. Good thing we didn’t book with Southwest. We heard that they had a nation wide temporary outage for about an hour. Can’t imagine what a mess this have caused. Thanks, Bob! We are staying in Oahu at our timeshare Hilton Hawaiian Village. Speaking of your new phone. I love my iPhone 14 Pro. You will love your 14 Pro Max. I upgraded from the iPhone 6S that lasted me for seven years so the 14 Pro was quite a jump for me. Thanks, Deb! It’s both as @dani negreanuDani said. Land and then cruise. Thanks you, @aussielozzie18! The plane took off a little early, too. It was a good flight. Thanks, Greg! I love the camera on that phone. Thank you, Maryann. We will do our best to enjoy the cruise. Have fun packing. It will be so great to see you all again. Can’t wait to finally meet you guys when you get here. Thanks, Pat. You enjoy and have a great cruise, too. We may start out warm but we head up north with 5 sea days to Vancouver. For now, the weather app says it’s cold and rain just about everyday up there. I hope it will be more sunshine in May. We still had our heater on everyday at home, too, @Coralc It’s been so cold except Easter Sunday. I’d say that was the best day out of the whole year. Welcome! You will get hooked on Dani’s thread. Thanks, Bonnie! It will be as Dani @dani negreanusaid, Hawaii is such a magic place. I wish all of you could be on the cruise with us. It will be so nice to meet John @Ozark_Kidand his gang, to see Denny @CruiszBugand her gang again and Ken @Ourusualbeachand his son Toby. It will sort of be a little mini Bella reunion.
  18. Good morning! Had Lyft drive us to the airport this morning. When we got out of the car, I had to lock once, twice, even three times to make sure DH didn’t leave anything in the car…like our passports. 😲 😠 Don’t want to go through that again. Very soon…..To the friendly skies.
  19. I had been praying for you and your MRI test. I am so sorry to hear of your diagnosis. I understand that the hardest part is watching your family going through this with you. You wish to take their pain away. It is so helpful that your two daughters are OT’s. They can be of much help in explaining and helping you understand this disease. You are so blessed to have such a loving and supportive family and Jesus to lean on. We are here for you, too. We will laugh with you, cry with you, sit and listen to you. You and your family will continue to be in my prayers.
  20. ^^^This ^^^, made me cry. This, made me cry, too. But this beautiful picture made me smile. It is precious. The resemblance is definitely there. I love your hair down. You finding your dad and your whole new family is priceless. I wouldn't trade it for a million bucks.
